Olive Oyl - I echo what andan says, life is too short not to enjoy it. If you can manage the fees comfortably and really enjoy the gym (I do wonder how people "enjoy" the gym:D) will get plenty of use out of the[STRIKE] torture chamber[/STRIKE] equipment then do it!!

I made a decision to keep on a horse despite my debt, and yes, it does put back my debt free date, but I enjoy the riding, outside and people I meet. Much the same sort of decision I think.

I've just made an enormous vat of minestrone soup, I'm going to have it every day for lunch this week with homemade bread. It's cost £3. So a very economical lunch.

Trust me, i know what slow is!! My computer jams/stops working around every twenty minutes and i have to wait anything up to seven minutes for it to start working again and catch up to itself. Still, a computer is better than no computer!!:rotfl:

    hello everyone,

    re: gym membership.

it was one of my two expenses everyone would tell me to ditch if I posted an SOA on here (the other being my sky subscription). I can make all the jokey reasons in the world for keeping both (not needing to buy new clothes if I stay the same size, not spending money in the cinema if I can watch a film in the house...) but what it really comes down to is I wanted to have both! plain and simple.

I use the gym in fits and starts but it all balances out. It keeps me sane. have a bad day and I can run it off or bike it off with some angry music in my headphones. It is very much needed me time.

As for sky, it is true, it does stop me going out and spending. My sky+ box is another important thing in my life I would not be without. I can record what I want, watch it when I want and not be a slave to that box in front of the sofa.

They are my two main big treats every month and nobody but nobody could make me give them up.

If it is something you want then go for it.

oops, I forgot to put in my list!

    today I have/will

    - use up mums tissues instead of mine at my neighbours funeral (very lovely humanist ceremony)
    - get my friends GHDs posted. She lives in NZ and they are nearly double the price there and she can't even be sure the ones she'd get would be genuine. The money will be back in my account tomorrow and I can have a smile for doing a good deed.
    - tonight is my first Samaritans shift. I am totally terrified! What have I let myself in for?!

not going to complete writing my list today. I'll be back to work and back to listing tomorrow.

Ktjazz, really good luck with the samaritans work tonight, trust me know how you feel, i haven't been doing the helpline work for long and its still nerve wracking, but its such a wonderful thing your doing. One thing i have learnt doing the helpline is to be myself/congruent and people can see through you when your not. Also, don't worry too much about what your saying, as far more often than not, the people on the other end are so preoccupied with whats going on for them, they don't really get caught up with what you say.

Best of luck with it all!
