This month is by way of an experiment for me and I am being extremely strict and counting all spends so I am unable to join the ranks of the people who have achieved a NSD just yet.

It is vital that I gain control over my finances so I am hoping that this month will be a learning experience for me and then I can set more appropriate rules for myself next month.

The bus to work costs me money every week day, but I could walk if I left about 30 minutes earlier, or even cycle if the weather wasn't too wet and windy so I am counting my bus fares.

Lunch is another expense. I only have myself to blame if I couldn't pack a lunch because there's no bread due to a late night toast binge so I am counting my lunch spending.

My food shopping would be much more efficient if I could be more organised, do a meal plan, and shop once a week, but because I pass shops on my route home I am always nipping in. Not only am I spending more than I need to, I am also gaining weight. For this reason I am counting food shopping as well.

Hopefully once I get the essential expenditure organised I willl be able to focus on the non-essential spending. I haven't been in a place of my own for very long and I had no idea how tempting it would be to buy candles, throws, lamps, and mirrors all the time!

Hi, welcome to the challenge! I've found it really helpful in getting me more organised and focussing on the difference between what I need and what I want to buy, so hopefully you'll have the same experience!

I managed NSD no.2 yesterday but no.3 will have to wait - have to go out and buy some baby formula as our DD is not gaining enough weight from her mum's boobies...

can i join this? Have been sort of noting my NSD's for a little while....

just a quick question tho - i take my toddler to about 3 todder groups a week - i don't normally class these as NSD's cos of the group costs - but from the initial post i probably could cos it is a regular expense? Is that right?

if anyone could help me on that i could calculate my NSD's accordingly....

Honestly sweetie-pie, it's up to you.

You could count them and also coordinate your spends so that they fall on those days too

But if it's a regular occurrence, and you aren't planning to reduce your toddler group spend then there's no need to count it if you don't want to.

Welcome to the gang my lovely! I'll go and add you to The Official List Of Motivation . :D

    Love Jacks xxx :D

PS Sorry to hear about the boobies Bone Idle. Breast feeding is definitely a bit tricky at first, but hopefully supply and demand will equalise soon. (We did a few bottles early on to give my nips a rest here and there but it all came good eventually. It's scary when they don't gain enough weight though.)

    Hello,

No NSD for me today - had to put fuel in the car, get new recorder book for DD & buy some bread & cheese; total spend £21 .

Bone idle if you're trying to get baby Bone to increase weight then try the blue lid formula, DD doubled her birth weight very rapidly thanks to this as recommended by midwife. It was so effective that it became known as 'fat baby' milk in our house, you wont have to use it for long to see results
