Valli - How about putting a curtain up of some sort in the doorway?
Thats what I'm going to do in here (hopefully at the weekend)...
speaking of which....
(ooo....just found out Abakhan online takes Paypal
)
I have material to make my curtains and all it says on the label is "house" :rolleyes: (I think looking at the website its just upholstery material which is supposed to be dry clean only) How much material should I leave as spare to allow for shrinkage? The doorsways are 2m high and I'm putting the curtains on curtain wire and hooks (no room to fit dowelling). I was thinking of cutting them at 2.3m so there is 10cm to create a pocket at the top for the wire and 20cm at the bottom to create a weight & draft excluder
Also should I trim the material? Its about 1.5m wide and the doorways are only about 80cm wide.
Nicki - if I were you I would wash the fabric first so that you know how much it is going to shrink (unless its something very exciting you'll probably get away with it). Do you know what it's made from? Don't trim it - make the header pocket and finish the sides. The extra width will form gathers on the wire and add insulation (and make sure it goes right to the edges. once you've done this, hang it up and see what you've got left in length. I make my door curtains slightly too long (depending where they are) to act as a draught excluder, but if there is loads left, work out what you need for the hem, and take the rest off to make a draught excluder to match - fill with (clean) old clothes or the inside of an old pillow or cushion. Have fun!
Hugs/congrats/get well soon etc. as appropriate. Have just finished work (got home at 8pm, logged back on) and skimmed the thread (mind you, that took a while :rolleyes: ).
Rach & Polka - turns out my Wednesday meeting is 6-8.30pm, so probably not the best timing. I'll let you know about Nov 4th/5th when I have that sorted!0 -
Nah - I'm gonna nail his door shut and/or solder (because I CAN use a soldering iron) his rad thermostat...I have moaned all night about my aching joints since I picked him up - 2 hours early,from his GF's - well I was over there dropping the 'karate kids' home - why would I NOT pick him up when I was so closeValli - How about putting a curtain up of some sort in the doorway?

he was LIVID:rotfl: told him it was his own fault for freezing his poor mum- and you've seen my legs - lots to chill:rotfl:, not making his bed and not putting his clothes away 'twill be interesting to see if he changes his ways...told him I will tell GFs parents they are not to pick him up from here and that I won't take him/collect him...have also threatened NOT to iron his clothes...we'll see what happens!
