we always eat the same things, and always at the table, the only food my sons dont like are hot curries, so i make them on the rare occasion i am eating alone, say kids on a school trip for instance

We have an evening meal at 6pm. I only cook one meal and we all sit round the table. I take suggestions such as I had requests for a lasagne today.

Mostly I cook from scratch, but we do have "bung in the oven" type meals if I've had an exceptionally busy day or I feel under the weather.

My daughter is 17 months and has never really had baby food. I just weaned her onto whatever we are having, and she's managed fine. She even manages spicy things like chilli or curries such as madras and jalfrezi. We went to Turkey when she had just turned a year old, and she ate the local food with no problems.
Here I go again on my own....

I wish my family would make suggestions as I'm fed up with the answer "anything" when I ask what they fancy for food that evening/tomorrow! Then when I cook anything it's not what they want!!!

We more or less eat the same, I try not to be draconian about it, exceptions are: DD (13) eats pasta instead of h/m pizza, which she doesnt like, (keep a bit of h/m pizza sauce back for her pasta) and pasta instead of chips (they give her spots). DS (15) hates baked potatoes so will have pasta instead, with the same toppings as we have on the pots. Both eat all fruit, veg, and salad, and I believe it's unreasonable to force a food they really hate. Otherwise we all eat the same food at the same time, unless someone is out/late.
    Anytime;)

I used to make one meal and DS would eat it but the last few months I've not really been eating dinner, have had terribble all day sickness with my pregnancy, but the last couple of weeks we've been eating together again, and he eats everything I do.
But on the odd occassion I'll do him something like niggets and chips if I just cant be bothered, I see no harm in convenience foods once in a while.

My 2 and a half year old generally eats the same as us. This only varies if say we eat late in which case I cook earlier for her.

My five year old generally eats what me and OH are having, He has been this way since he was weaned and loves a massive variety of food! He will eat anything from mexican to indian. I guess the only exception is if me or OH are busy or if we are having a romantic night together I will cook us a meal for once DS has gone to bed. And most saturdays we will eat once DS has gone to bed, thats usually the day he gets his treat like a mcdonalds or BK. I dont see anything worng with junk / conv foods every now and then. He will eat sliced raw peppers as a snack and eats tons of fruit through the day!

  • As a family we all eat the same meal every night. There is one exception though and that's on curry night. Oh and DS1 like their curries quite spicy and full of chili, whereas DS2 only likes a Korma, me I am not too bothered lol! I make a large Korma for DS2 every few weeks and freeze portions for him so I don't end up making 2 meals from scratch. We all eat the same naan bread/rice/bhajis etc.
I could make everyone eat a mild curry so we are eating the same, but I am not sure it would be fair on the spice lovers who like to eat all kinds of curry Thai red being the favourite at the moment. DS2 regularly has a taste to see if he can handle the heat yet so I have no probs with him not eating this meal.

gnereally 5/6 nights out of 7 we'll eat the same thing as a family around our table. The exception is fridays when hubby is lat ehome and we have a takeaway or if we go out for a meal on a saturday. Also, ds1 doesnt like tomatoe based sauces so if I'm doing a chilli he'll have rice with beans/cheese and if I'm doing spag bol he'll have spag with cheese and garlic bread :)

I chose no. We usually make a variation for the kids as they wont eat anything "wet" so we're a bit stuffed when having a casserole or something! We do cook everything from scratch and they don't like chips, my dd doesn't even like sausages or burgers. I make things like chicken nuggets from scratch or else they have salmon fillets, chops, omlette etc.

I do believe we (or my husband more likely) pandered to them too much when they were smaller. My daughter in particular is now very food phobic.

We are now on baby number three (12 months) who eats anything, we went down the baby led weaning approch and she has just finished wolfing down pasta in cream sauce with courgettes and thyme. We feed her whatever we have and intend to keep it that way.
