Hi
Thanks for the replies but my husband has had a look and he said he cant see anyway of getting the tube out, but we will keep trying.
It will be bolted on somewhere. Its just a matter of finding it, you'll likely have to go underneath. Meanwhile the car should be perfectly fine to drive.
You could also turn the car upside down and shake it around a bit, it will fall out0 -

The dipstick tube might not be bolted on it might just un screw.
Could be worth a try.0 -
We used to come across this all the time in our workshop in the used car dealership, it was the same for most of the renault models which then went on to a metal dipstick. It was a very common fault. We must have sent out hundreds of renaults with broken dipsticks in the sump as we were advised by our boss to leave them. Having said that I do not recall a single one coming back with any problem with the broken piece.
One thought , why don't you contact your renault dealership and point out that this is a dipstick manufacturing fault and therefore the broken part should be removed free of charge to avoid further problems? You never know!
Good luck!0
