Dipstick snapped off inside
Hi
I dont know if this is the right place to post but maybe someone can help me.
My husband has just been to check the oil in our Scenic and has noticed that about three quarters of the dipstick has snapped off inside, we were just wondering if it will do any harm by leaving it in there (as he has tried his best to get it out) or if we should take it to a garage to remove it.
Its the plastic kind btw not metal.
And if anyone has any suggestions on how to remove it feel free to tell me.
Thanks for reading.

I would guess it snapped off when you took the stick out, but probably didn't realise it. I wouldn't drive the car, best towed to a garage. I imagine the oil will need to be drained and the sump pan will need to come off. The sump will need a new gasket or some sort of sealant applied. Shouldn't cost too much to get a garage to do.
Best to have new oil put in than re-use the old oil and makes sense to have the filter changed too0 -
Can't see it doing any harm, however you should remove it as you'll need it in future. You should be able to remove the dipstick tube and get to it that way.0

Probably cost. Plastic will go brittle and probably break:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things.
