My dad has always had BT business account for his home phone as he runs a small business from his home. He would now like to get broadband as he has had a dial up connection for a few years and it has been so terrible as it drops the connection all the time and takes about 2 mins to load a page ( we thought broadband would would not be an option as he lives in a remote area and was always told it was not available). He has found out his neighbours have got it. He went on to broadband finder and thought BT was the best option from £15 a month for a 24month contract option 1 this is from the business sites he will not get wireless router or anything with this. my question is does he have to have broadband business rates when he is only using broadband for personal use. The same deal on private use is much cheaper and free wireless router. ( he will only be reading web pages and is unlikely to be downloading much usage)

If I was you I'd have a checkout of the o2 broadband offerings as Home allows SoHo type activity (see their T&Cs) and anyway their Business offerings (with greatly enhanced responsiveness) aren't that much more anyway.

PS:
Just looked and can't immediately find the SoHo type clause that used to be there - maybe it's gone since they added BUSINESS offerings to their price/service list.

Try Plusnet @£14.99 monthly contract, but if you change in the first year you have to pay the connection fee, about £40 and you can get free router, again free if you stay a year.

Have got about 6 people on with no probs at all.
