I would love a wood stove, But only want a small cheap one which wouldnt comply with the rules. Wouldnt the smokeless ones need smokeless fuel to comply and not standard wood?

Real smokeless ones that can burn anything without smoke are very expensive & need to reach 2000+ degrees is it?

Not sure about reaching 2000degree that would be a bit of push even for charcoal. But yes they do need to run hotter and yes there a little bit more expensive but as this thread discusses that a decent wood burning stove can easy been made to clean burn by making sure its not possible to dampen the fire down, but this does have to tested and certificated

If you use smokeless fuel then you don't need a clean burning wood stove as your not using wood.

It's pretty easy to resolve, if you have the multi fuel option then you can burn anything. Order a few bags of smokeless fuel for burning during daylight hours and only burn logs in the evening or after dark.

well that's a stupid thing to say. it will be a smokeless zone for a reason, usually to safeguard people's health from air pollution.
  • Does anybody know the situation with Nordpeis? They are not on DEFRA exempt list. Claimed to have a secondary combustion system and low emissions. I am interested in a pure woodburner (Boston) and the UK distributor ACR have been very unhelpful, almost rude. Not DEFRA-approved, !!!!!!-off kind of talk. Any views?
