Virgin Media - They Are Utterly Useless

  • Yeah NTL were chronic.

I used to work for Telewest Communications in Speke (Lpool) before they were bought by NTL and for a while after elsewhere, and CS went down the pan immediately. Certain procedures suddenly didn't need to be followed and imo chaos erupted. I left shortly afterwards, the abuse from the customers had reached an all-time high and I simply wasn't paid enough.

NTL were bought out IIRC by Virgin, so how its all operated now should be different.

I assume the OP's 'enter' key was not working when the thread was started.

    Talk about difficult to read.

NTL were useless and that's all Virgin Media are. NTL with another name.

Well seeing internet use has been common for over 10 years now it's obviously not had much effect!

You're making a comparison against the unknown. How do you know what would have happened if the internet hadn't existed during that 10 year period?

It's not about the unknown it's about the known. It obviously hasn't had much of an effect!

So frustrating for you! I put up with similar in order to get the cheap service - £20 a month for telly, phone and broadband, then I opted to pay an extra £5 for an additional V+ Box.

Two months later I realised they'd been billing me £47 a month! Emailed the head honcho in the end and got a first class service... they tried to explain at least part of it with "You added a V+ Box, so you now have to pay for that and start paying for an additional telly box". But I already had the telly box for free! :rotfl:

They gave me 12 months "loyalty discount" so I'm currently paying the £25 I signed up for. Then it'll apparently go up to £30. No-one can explain to me why

12 Month contracts lock you in thats why. Ive had endless issues with VM, customer services are appalling, they regurlay take extra payments out of your account, then subsequently nock it off your next bill. It went downhill so fast, made worse when they introduced a call charge to report a fault on their system. That was when I broke free, as my contract didnt have a call charge, in effect they had breached it, grounds for termination, and it worked.

Well I have to say I'm more than happy with VM only ever had two problems and both were sorted within days.....never been over charged, internet has only been down twice as they were up grading the line (now 20MB BB)

when I rang up just to see if i could fine tune my speed they said that a new modem would help and next day it was here. ythey get 9/10 from me

The only thing that bugs me is when they throttle the bandwidth, but i guess thats my fault for being greedy

Oh and they have removed the call charged now.....though when it was running and it was their end that was at fault then you get it taken off your next bill anyway.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right
