No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • We weren't really looking for a repossession just stumbled across the house when we were driving around the area we wanted to live in.

Its up for 225k which i feel is a little steep considering that in early 2007 it sold for 230k. Not much of a difference and considering the housing situation at the minute, what would you consider a reasonable offer based on the the facts above?

175k they can only say no.....guess it depends on how fast you can complete
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right
  • I was thinking of 175k but my partner said we had no chance. Got a house to sell so cant move too quickly. Argh! Want to get the ball rolling now as it is just what we were looking for in a lovely area.

the banks will keep it on the market so unless your ready to move it would be a waste of your time and money.

Unless you price your house well you will have no chance pf selling it in this current market

I appreciate what you are saying and know what state the market is in at the present time.

Dont expect to make anything from the house we're in. We have been in it nearly 4 years now and bought it then for 73k so will have it be happy to get what we paid for it.

Will be interesting to see if we can shift it. The house we have seen has been up for sale since June so doubt it will be going anywhere fast.

"early in 2007" would be pretty much the peak price, so you can think of up to say 20% lower - but you do need to be able to move quickly for a repo sale..
  • Yes, I meant a £20k reduction.

£20 off wouldn't really be worth shouting about (-:
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.
  • Just to let everyone know we exchanged last week and picked up the keys this morning.

My boyfriend then took me to a local reclamations yard to buy me a present for the house - I came back with an enamel baby's bath (for growing potatoes in) and old wooden bird house for the garden. He was hoping to find a church pew for me but the only one they had was stnding in the yard with all the ironmongery and was in a very sorry state.

It's been a stressful process but as long as you have a solicitor and mortgage provider that doesn't mess you around it can be done in 28 days.

From an asking price of £95k we got our offer of £72k accepted but had to wait some weeks before hearing back and the vendor sent in their surveyor again.

I hope everyone else has success with their house hunting!!

    Now I'm off to...
