Apologies in advance if there is an existing thread on this, please point me to it!
I have just bought a plasma TV that is HD ready, so how do I make it full HD? Do I need to? What is the difference? Why is everything so complicated?
Thanks.

Buy a HD box like freesat or Sky HD0
-
You need to feed it with HD material from cable, Sky, Freesat or Blu ray0

Its all about how many pixels can be displayed on the screen the higher the number the better you would think.
HD Ready = 720p/1080i
Full HD = 1080p
So Full HD is Better? well NO only thing delivering a Full HD Content is a Blueray player. X-box360, Sky HD and Freesat HD only deliver 720p/1080i so at the moment unless you have Blueray player or PS3 then HD ready is OKWhoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -

Yep we picked up a really good one for £30 brand new from QVC outlet store about a month ago, with 3 HD DVDs included. And amazon and play.com still sell them for about £4 each. Not bad for full HD movie watching. Also worth it alone as a replacement for DVD player as it upscales DVDs as well."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Thanks for the replies. I take it that it isn't really that important then to have full HD. Will it make a difference when we are all switched over to digital? TBO the picture looks clear enough to me as it is on the HD ready!Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0

It is not in the slightest "important" just depends what you want to watch.
Unless you have an HD source linked by an HD cable to your tele then you are watching SD, no matter whether it is digital or analogue0 -

I personally don't think its that important at the moment. At digital switchover the BBC are thinking of reorganizing Freeview/Freesat so that more HD channels will be available but they will be 720p/1080i. Sky HD might change in the future to 1080p but with the looming recession and credit crunch will they invest the money requiredWhoa! The Humax freesat Foxsat-HDR comes out mid November for around £299

You need a twin LNB and sky dish0 -
I have a contact in the inside, and they are convinced that the primary format will be 720, but can't remember which.0
