Hi there! I needed new glasses and was unsure about ordering online but looked at various sites recommended by MSE, I ordered a pair of fashion frames(the ones with wide legs) from www.wantglasses.co.uk for £20 plus £2.50 delivery(after entering discount code for delivery on home page). I received them within a week and they are fab! I thought I'd take a chance and if they were rubbish at least I wouldn't be too much out of pocket. I'm glad to say they'r not rubbish and everyone keeps telling me how nice my new specs are!! Anyway I hope others take the plunge and go for glasses online it saves a fortune!0

I ordered glasses from them on 9 July, but have had no reply to three emails to them last week asking whether there is any problem with my order, which is shown as "processing" in my account. When I've tried to ring, I get a meessage which tells me I've reached voicemail, but that voicemail is full so I can't leave a message.
Many thanks.
My mum ordered from these last year. It is a one man organisation. After 3 weeks she phoned and the man said they were on there way (it seems they were posted after she called. She was pleased with them, so being fairly hard up and having a very expensive prescription, she placed an order 3 months ago. Weirdly the man said he needed a cheque (I wish she had told me!! I would have told her to steer clear) so she sent it off (over £100) she has never received the glasses, never had a response and had the same response as you from the phone line. She wrote threatening court action, but still heard nothing. She has no idea what to do now.
So I woul d say
steer well clear of https://www.see4less.co.uk:starmod: I am not that savage :heartpuls But I am a Vixen :staradmin0 -
Thanks, savagevixen - I wish your Mum well in her pursuit of see4less. Has she tried sending a letter by recorded/registered post to see if there is someone there to receive mail? And the only other thing I can suggest is contacting Trading Standards.
I'd paid by credit card, and referred this to my credit card provider. They are going to refund me, and pursue see4less for payment.
In the meantime, I got myself a lovely pair of glasses from Zenni Optical, at just under £20 including postage. I had to wait 2 weeks, but it was worth it.0 -
Just got another pair of varifocals from Zenni Optical with 2 pairs of magnetic sunshades £40.02, terrific value0

After reading these forums I decided to try Wantglasses.co.uk and ordered a simple pair of single vision glasses with sun reactive lenses. Hoping to receive them while we still had some summer! Ordered 26th July not received to date 27th August. I have sent several emails and tried the Live Help feature and eventually got an apologetic reply on 19th August saying my glasses would be despatched that day.
My advice DON'T USE WANTGLASSES.CO.UK0 -

When you fill out the order form and have to add your address the form reformats itself to give you UK postage costs
I actually live in Spain and the postage cost was 9US dollars
I have used Zenni for 7 pairs of glasses now and have been pleased with all of them. All our specs have been shipped from Hong Kong and not US, the only criticism I have is that they are not very good at answering emails, but are fine on the phone, but you need to work out the time change which is a pain. Zenni are really bad at answering emails. They just seem to type out whatever is easiest for them and don't really look at your problem in any detail. The time difference also means they tend to reply in the middle of the night for us - so conversations tend to run at one message a day.
I was about to order from them but the frames I chose had two conflicting pictures on the page so I emailed to ask which style I would get. After three emails from me and three contradicting and (sometimes useless) replies from them I've given up. I think if its this difficult to buy their product I would hate to have a problem once I've given them my money.
I'm sure many people will order from them and not have any problems but its worth considering their customer service if you're going to be spending a considerable amount with them .0 -
it seems that wantglasses.co.uk otherwise known as JMS Vision Ltd have had other identities one being Direct Sight Ltd and other moneysavers have complained about them elsewhere on these forums with the same sort of problems I am having with them namely non delivery and lack of communication0

I bought a pair of glasses from Eyeexperts.co.uk and would highly recommend them. :T
I received the glasses within 4 days of ordering them and the quality is much better than any of the other sites I have used before.0
