Depends on how long ago the original sight test was, really. You should have gone straight back to the optician when you discovered the problem with the prescription. If you go back 6 or 12 months later, there's really no way of knowing whether the original prescription was wrong as your eyes could have (probably did) change in that time anyway."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. When it comes to history, it will be the people who broke the law for freedom that will be remembered and honoured." --Rt. Hon. Tony Benn0

i have a boots vision plan for my contact lenses, so if i go into any boots opticians, will they be able to give me my glasses prescription?
they'll have it on their system won't they?
thanks.0 -

Hello,
I took a chance and just got two pairs from an online retailler with a new presecription from specasvers. I got my PD from my last optician and indepenedently checked this by taking a new measurement. I have large pupils but the measurement looked right. I have been trying out one of the pairs over the past couple of days. But honestly I am not getting on well so far!
I always have a slight period of adjustment after getting a new prescription, but I would have thought after a couple of days my eyes would have settled down. But it feels like my vision is distorted a bit- like things seem further away or like looking down the wrong end of my binoculars, but otherwise I can use a computer and get about okay, it just feels off and my eyes feel strained.
These new glasses are narrower and more square than I expected and are also semi rimless in style, compared to an oval thin metal rimmed style of my previous pair. Is there any way to test whether it is the fit/style of the glasses , the PD or the prescription that is out of whack? Or should I just persevere with them for a bit longer?
Also, does anyone know who is the best for reglazng extra thin 1.67 single vision lenses and above?
Thanks

The question is,is the prescription correct and have the spectacles been made in accordance with the prescription? You could go back to the prescribing optician for a recheck. The prescribing optician may even kindly check that your new spectacles have been made in accordance with the prescription. If they have, then it may mean that you need to get used to them. But if they have not, then your online provider should put them right.
Of course, you wont be best pleased if the prescribing optician finds that the prescription is valid but that the spectacles have been made incorrectly, and then chooses to levy a charge to you for the recheck!
If the prescribing optician has given you an erroneous prescription, then you would probably be expecting him or her to put things right.0 -
Thank you! That's very helpful. The prescribing optician is Specsavers.0

I have put in an order to Glasses Direct from the MSE email this week, two pairs of semi rimless glasses down from £75 to £55 each, two for the price of one, £30 off code valid until 16/7/12 that is mentioned in the email, one pair tinted so that's my sunglasses sorted out all for under £29.
If you go via topcashback.co.uk there's a 5.05% cashback referral link so works out about £1.44 cashback too.0 -
I thought the Glasses Direct voucher code was valid until 16th July. It doesn't discount my order. Am I doing something wrong?0

I've just had a look and the code isn't working for me either, I entered it the same way I did yesterday when I put my order in. They may have pulled the deal.0
