Transalper - Kent Reliance is a consistent performer for Cash ISA transfers. It doesn't pay the highest rate but our transfers in from other providers were handled quickly and efficiently and we've found them a very efficient building society to do business with, so have decided to leave the money there instead of chasing the highest rate which almost invariably has a short term bonus to mislead new customers.

Probably because the source is eMoneyfacts, which always appears to quote gross rates, rather than AER.

But surely this then is a false comparison?
How do you know which is monthly and which is annually?
  • why isn't egg appearing on your list 6.55% internet instant?

eMoneyfacts is targeted at financial advisers, not we mere mortals. ;)

I suspect its either a) not updated very well b) because its a bonus rate on top of the 4.75% rate that its not shown.

Only if transferring in previous years' Cash ISA funds from other providers, otherwise the Natwest rate is pretty dire.... ;)

I wasn't saying that it's not a rubbish list, just the obvious reason why the Natwest ISA is not included.

    Hi Primrose, Transalper

Totally agree re. Kent Reliance (KRBS). Have had an ISA and previously a TOISA with them which are now merged in the ISA for 6 years . Interest rate is 5.76%, it's a postal account. Also, interest rate has been consistentily near the top of the table since I opened my account. They are currently updating their website capabilities to cope with internet access to view accounts, not sure whether this will include account mgmt options.

Have tried to read up on them but the only negative press I could find was about the CEO giving himself a big payrise about 1 year or so ago. Guess could be worse??

I personally have had very smooth dealings with them, my small gripe is the antiquated cheque in the post system, but then again Icesave took 4-5 days to release my money from my internet account into my current a/c and KRBS take about the same time from my sending my letter to the money getting into my currnet a/c....cost: 45p for stamp, paper, envelope, ink and time!

Have often considered opening a Cash ISA with a higher interest rate but the hassle, pitfalls and risk just weren't worth the relatively low extra interest to me. I just spend an extra few Saturday nights in with a £10 M&S meal or antipasti from Aldi or Lidl and a glass of vino (currently Casillero del Diablo is a firm favourite and on offer at Tesco and Sainsbury!!!) instead of going out to a restaurant!!!

When I eventually get my Icesave ISA back I want to put it in a SAFE account and just sit back and forget about it for a few years.
    But I want one that
    1. Does not have a bad reputation ie. takes ages to transfer money into or out from another bank.
    2. Gives a consistant good level of interest even when the first year bonus is expired.
    3. Easy to open and fairly quick.
4.Can be opened with 0 balance as I have used my tax free alowance.
    5. One that will accept my Icesave account transfer. (some do not accept transfers)
Am I asking too much, does one exist?

Have your tried the Ruffler Bank ISA? You can open with a transfer without affecting your annual ISA allowance, and they don't have a bonus. And for all other points, they match requirements.
