Did i do the right thing in cancelling my 3 contract last month?
Options
When 3 changed their terms and conditions I took advantage of the clause allowing me to cancel my contract early. Obviously I thought I could simply get hold of another 3 package and sell on the new phone and use my old one. I didnt bargain for the fact that 3 would stop all their heavy promotional activity dead in its tracks. So with a couple of days left until my 30 day notice period ends i am in a dilemna as to whether I should ring up 3 and ask them not to cancel my contract. I would then be able to claim the free line rental that OSPS offered me when i took out my contract and which is no longer available. I do find the 500 mins and 100 text messages very useful and can't really find anything similar being offered by anyone else. Has anyone else had the same dilemna as me and what have you done in your situation?

I've just got a phone from phoneboxdirect.com (using Quidco to get £15 too) it is free for 12 months, so long as you send in 5 lots of bills through the year. I also get 200 x network free mins and 100 texts per month (400 mins and 200 txts for frst 3 months). I also have the '3' deal with 500 free mins etc and I couldn't find anything as good this time around. That was the best I could find. I'm sick of '3' as everytime I try to find out info I have to speak to someone in India who won't give me a straight answer, I can't hardly understand them and I end up feeling more lost after speaking to them. I'm with O2 now.0

When I cancelled my 3 contract early due to their price rises, I also thought about staying. I did cancel in the end, and boy haven't I noticed. I actually get customer service with my current network provider, something which was very hard to come buy with 3.
You are on talk and talk 600 (500mins + 100 texts) for £30. Voda do the exact same tariff for £40. In my opinion it is worth every penny. The amount of time I have spent on the phone to 3 CS trying to get even minor issues sorted. That extra £10 at Voda is peanuts in comparison.
IMHO I would forget 3.
I'm sure some happy 3 customers will say otherwise.0 -
I cancelled early due to the increase and to an extent regret it as im now left with a 100 min contract ( use 400 mins minimum) which is due to finish in january but i cant put my notice in yet and i can increase the mins as that would tie me into a 18 month contract with them which i just wont do, the phone/s im looking to get are not available yet and keep getting postponed and i dont want to opt for a phone only to dislike it and be stuck for a year with it so i have to play the waiting game, i could have kept the 3 contract and cancelled the voda one and then upgraded maybe march or so.The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

I think i did the right thing by cancelling. Was 4-5 months into contract. Had a 6630 on 500 mins 100 text.
Cancelled in on the 1st November. Had already received required invoices for 1st cashback from OSPS.
Then i signed up for the 6630 - 500 mins, 100 text free for a year with The link. with the extra £50 cash back. And got my rpoints too.
Have sold the new phone. So all in i have got 12thmonth free phone and nearly £200 in back pocket.
Cheers Three. I can put with with !!!!!! customer services for a year. LOL

I ended up deciding to stick with 3 and carry on with my contract until the 12 months are up. One of the main factors for me was that I got a nokia 6680 from them which was virtually rendered useless if i left due it being unlockable. As the phone is pretty good and id only had it a few months I didnt really feel like chucking it away or selling it on ebay for £40-£50. I looked at various new phones on other networks with cashback but they all pretty much worked out to cost me roughly the same as carrying on with my 3 contract (Around £180 for the year). I would have got a new handset with the other offers but i would then have had only 200 x-network minutes as opposed to the 500 that 3 give.
Thanks for the input all the same.0 -

But in reality, the OP (and most other 3 customers) aren't paying £30 a month, they are paying £2.99 a month or maybe even nothing for their contracts.
There is no way I could justify paying £40 a month, or even £30 normally, but the three deals were massively discounted. I can cope with 3 CS for the sake of a £27 - 37 a month saving!!!
Only ever called them twice, once at the start of the contract when phone was faulty - CS were annoying and slow but eventually sorted problem and CPW online who sold me the phone let me take it into store and they rang 3 CS for me.
2nd time was when they put the prices up, complained and got £10 rebate on my bill as long as I didn't cancel. That is 2 1/2 months line rental for me.
It now means that over the year, my Nokia 7600 has cost me 2.99 x 12 = £35.88 minus £10 rebate = £25.88 plus a phone to sell at the end of the contract (currently selling for about £25 - £55.
So all in all, I have had 500 x-net anytime mins and 100 texts a month for the last year for free, could even make a few quid on the deal.0 -
