Help Please

I took out my first contract phone with the boots offer in september.
i got the motorola v220 on voda for my son phone has now developed a fault, it wont text. What i would like to know is do i have to buy another phone or should it be replaced and if so by who boots or motorola.

if it's only the text function broken it could well just be the SIM settings for the text message centre, I would contact the network first assuming you can call and use other functions of the phone

Thanks will try that when son gets home from school incase they need me to do something to the phone.
