    What exactly is sniping?

sniping is when you tell a sniping programme to bid in the last few seconds of an auction on ebay so noone else gets to bid so you get things cheaper. It is an excellent tool to use it also saves you having to remember to log on and bid yourself.

    HTH ;D

PS Adam keep up the good work :)

Thanks Divadee but I'm still not clear.

Does sniping stop other people bidding for the item then? Or does it automatically bid higher than the current high bid but not allow any time for a counter bid?

Sorry to sound a bit vacant?

sniping allows you to place your bid as near as possible to the auctions closing time, therefore not allowing any other bidders to counter bid.

with sniping software, you set your maximum bid and it will places your maximum bid, ebay then accepts your bid at the next level, ie current bid plus 20p.

some software, allows you to pay a membership fee which allows you to palce a sniped bid 3 seconds before the auction end, normal standard membership places the bid 10 seconds before the end
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

    It's a two trick pony.
    1) it bids late to prevent normal avoid competitive bidding.
    2) it uses ebays highest bid system so the last bidder gets it at the lowest price above the other bidders.

If someone is intersted in an item and user-a and user-b bid over a period of time they each decide what to pay, and then don't want to loose it for an extra quid or two. A £200 item could go through 20 bids (10 each) until someone backs down.

With snipe bidding user-a bids and user-b files a snipe, 5 seconds from the end of the auction user-b's bid is placed, if user-a's first bid was £120 and your snipe was £180, you'd get the item thanks to eBays auto bidding for £130 (or could be £125 I can't remember the £5 bid switchover point)

Try it out with 5 free winning snipes (loosing snipes are not charged :)) http://iloaf.com/2c

i emailed adam asking him the same thing, and heres his reply:
I've yet to make the bidlate system snipe at the last minute as I have not had many requests to extend this web-site any further.

Most of my attention is focussed on the Ryanair flight checker at the moment, also mentioned on the MSE forums.
  • Sounds great to me, Adam - like the other services you're done for MSE. I have used Auction Stealer a couple of times, and like one of the earlier posters, I accept the risk involved. Not a regular sniper though, so don't know that I'd make a huge amount of use of your service.
