sorry wasn't having a pop at Adam, no offence meant. :)
Ever stop to think and forget to start again?
  • All,

I understand your worries about supplying usernames and passwords.

May I first point out that this site currently does not work!

Obviously, the snipe would not work without a valid username and password combination; all snipe websites need this info.

I guess adding a SSL server, etc would boost people's confidence. However, I started this thread to see the demand for this tool, and whether I spend a relatively short amount of time creating this for my father, or a longer amount getting it perfected for the MSE community.

divadee - apologies, I totally forgot about the dedicated ebay board.

    Thanks,
    Adam
  • In support of Adam, and speaking as someone who DOES use other eBay sniping sites, I accept that I have to enter my username and password for such a system to work. I also accept the [slight, IMO] risks involved in doing so.

And I would feel happier doing that with a site where I know at least some of the software author's background due to the development work he has done on other items here, than some who I don't know from Adam (no pun intended :) ).

Adam - please don't judge from the negative reaction from some folks here, especially those who do not use other sniping sites. How can they judge what they do not know??

Sniping sites are not for everyone, but if you personally want to pay over the odds for eBay goods, continue not to use them. I will take the risk in this instance.

Adam, I hope you press on with the development. :)

I for one am all for it. Thanks in advance if you go ahead.
I am a cider drinker - like my father before me.
  • Go Adam!!

I personally support you - your flight checker & other stuff has been really brill.

I also have used auction stealer, but I find the 3-a-week limit a bit disappointing.

If you want to stay up all night, then don't snipe. If you fancy sniping (and it can yield REAL results) then I suggest you get behind Adam.

Thanks Adam for donating your time for the benefit of others.

    Cheers

    Steve

  • Sounds very cool!

    Another Adam special.
  • Go for it Adam!
  • All,

http://www.bidlate.co.uk now bids on ebay on your behalf.
Currently this bid takes place instantly.

What I'd like to happen is for people to use bidlate to place an ebay bid rather than go through ebay itself. I'm sure I haven't coded for all scenarios, and therefore I'd like to test as much as possible.

When a number of people have used it, and all is working, then I'll enable it to do last minute sniping.

Please let me know how you get on - good or bad.

FYI - I've just used it to bid on a couple of items:
    5127206916 and 5127412686.
    Thanks,
    Adam
