Being as I'm indecisive, I can't decided between two phones, I thought I'd ask for some opinions.

Besides the basics of it actually being a decent phone. for calls ect. I'd like a phone with the following.

Easy to text. (I text a lot, so a decent keypad is essential)

Good battery life (my past two phones have been Sony's, charged once every 5-7 days tops, I don't want to go back to charging every other day like I did when I had Nokia's)

Good Camera. (Had a k800i, swapped it for a w910i, I prefer the w910i for everything but the camera, I miss a decent camera.)

Now, I can't decide between the Samsung Omnia, the Samsung Innov8 and the Sony Ericsson C905.

I worry that the Omnia would just be too complicated for me to use as a phone, with it having no buttons, there will obviously be no 'pressing one button to write a new text' Friend has one and everything seems a few clicks away. But I love the design and am tempted by the touch screen (bit of a gadget freak).

The Innovate, while it's still a smart phone, there's no windows mobile so I'd imagine it's less complicated, but has similar features to the omnia. (I could be making all that up as I haven't had chance to play with one yet). But I'm not impressed with its looks, reminds me too much of the N95 8gig.

C905, Not much info as it's only just being released, but I love the look, love that it has an 8meg camera, and it's a Sony, I admit to being a bit of a SE fangirl. My worry here is it seems a lot like the w910i, as it's not a smart phone, just Sony's normal GUI with some added features (I'm lead to believe through the reviews). And do I really want to pay out a few hundred quid for a phone that's basically the same as the one I have just with a better camera.

So, as you can see, I can't make my mind up.

Any and all advice is gratefully recieved.

Thanks.
Sigless

  • I thought i too would hate having a touch screen when i got an Lg Viewty as a birthday present a few weeks ago but it is great, the touch screen isn't a problem whatsoever (i know its not quite the same as an Omnia but you did mention the touchscreen may be an issue)
  • What about the new Sony Ericsson W902 5mp camera walkman music player its just new out
  • I also want some help choosing a new phone: Im on a pay monthly contract with orange, pay around £35 per month. Its upgrade time soon and I want a decent phone off them as I havent had a new one for about 2 years. Ideally I'd love an Iphone, but really i want a decent phone i can call and text, and maybe download and watch music videos. Anyone help? I have always been a nokia man and would really like to stick to them.

    Sorry for the late reply.

I ended up ordering an Omnia, thought I'd go for the most features. Turns out I don't get on with touch screens. I'll check that Sony out, thanks.

So I'm back to square one now. Still I've eliminated one lol.

Omnia: No, it's not easy too text on, the batter life isn't anything too sing home about.

Innov8: Battery life is equiv of a Nokia.

C905: The phones heavy, weighs alot at the top meaning texting with one hand is quite difficult. Good batter life without 3G and a good camera tho, i'd go with this choice out of the 3 presented based on the information you've given.

Edit: Didn't see the above post, lol @ going for the touchscreen PDA first :p

I'm not seeing why you'd lol at me going for the touch screen PDA first.

I went for it as I'd liked the touch screen on the Tocco, but that phone has way to many annoyancies. All seemingly not there in the Omnia. Plus I have a Pocket PC so I've used windows mobile for years. I thought being used to Windows mobile, the Omnia would be easy to handle, which it is, as a PDA, I just didn't find it all that practical as a phone, especially as I text a lot. Problem I had is winmobile isn't that easy (for me personally) with no stylus, and I don't want a stylus that just hangs at the side of my phone.

Had a play with the innov8 tonight and it seems to me exactly like the N95, only with Samsung written across the front, not Nokia.

I'm still not completely sold on the Sony, there seems to be very little difference between the C902 and the C905. Obviously the screen is bigger and the camera is better, plus there's wifi. So I need to figure out if they're worth spending the extra on.

No, the reason why i lol'd is because it's a fully touschreen phone and it's incredibly difficult too text on, and that was your primary need, nothing else.

Well the differences are, it's bigger, it has a Xenon flash, it's a slide phone, it has a better camera, it has WiFi. Don't mean to be ignorant but they are a whole lot of differences in the mobile phone world, so whilst it is an upgrade of the C902 it's nothing like it.

lol, I see your point, but since texting on the Tocco was as easy as a keypad I assumed the Omnia's T9 would be the same, ah well, learned the hard way.

I'm off to try an find a shop with a C905 on display for me to have a play with. I'm liking the idea of the wifi. So hopefully I'll like the phone itself.

Aye it's a nice all round phone and the camera quality is very good. The only thing i disliked about it was it was top heavy so may be hard too text with one hand.

Saying that, it is a very good phone and one of the best at the moment.

Just had a look, I like it a lot. Only thing is the screen is smaller than the w910i I have now. Obviously as a phone it's a million times better, so I was surprised at the smaller screen.

Agh lol. Given the options this is the phone I like most, and seems the most suitable for my needs so I know I'm just being picky with the screen thing now.

Now to find a sim free one decently priced. Best seems to be carphonewarehouse, they've got it on orange payg for £360 but there phones are usually unlocked.

    Thanks for the advice.
