I've just logged onto the Icesave site and all I can see is "Home" and the statement about customers being e-mailed regarding compensation.
The Log In facility seems to have completely disappeared. Is anybody else having this problem? I need to refresh my memory on my linked account number as I've always paid in, and never withdrawn.
It's not a problem - access to the site has been disabled for this week to permit the compensation processes to be put in place.

Yes, it does appear that the login facility has now been disabled Primrose.

In view of the statements they have previously made regarding the phased withdrawal of funds, I had anticipated this.

You will have to wait for the email that tells you that you are in a batch that has access to remove your money. Hopefully not too long to wait.

luckily i was transferring 2 isas(1 icesave and 1 barclays) into my natwest isa. the barclays one is in but the transfer failed from icesave. this means my acct is open and now am just waiting for my 2nd email from icesave to get my mitts on my munny!

That's a really smart way of going about it. I had a belated 'lightbulb' moment myself this afternoon along exactly these lines since I have a couple of other ISAs lingering in other banks. Opened an RBS ISA this afternoon and asked them to transfer my Halifax ISA into it. They are working on this, and confirmed I can make additional transfer requests if I so wish. Didn't even mention Icesave, I'll deal with that as and when I have the certificate from the FSCS.

Suppose if you haven't got another ISA to play with, just give the new provider the transfer form with your Icesave account details, but don't offer any explanation. If they notice the problem there and then, you can plead ignorance and ask them to put things on hold until you have spoken to the FSCS. More likely, they probably won't realise for a while there is a problem. By the time they realise they can't get the anything out of Icesave, you probably will have the FSCS certificate and you can take it from there. Main thing is to get the new ISA account opened pronto.

Nothing wrong with people having differing opinions. However, your posts appear to be stating "facts" rather than offering opinions and, as both Paul_Herring and Plasticman have pointed out, your "facts" are wrong.

Having a large number of posts (and thanks) is no guarantee that you know what you are talking about.

Fact1 if you had up to £ 16000 or more than £50000 you are not part of the FCSC scheme and therefore not subject to their terms and conditions

Fact 2 the member banks of the FSCS are not being levied for ICESAVE

And the terms of the FSCS DO apply as they compensate us for anything over and above the limits of the Icelandic scheme, up to £50K. In this instance the government have agreed to fund the Icelandic part (as Iceland can't afford to) and anything above £50K. They may then try to reclaim the money from the 'frozen' assets.

At the moment, the UK taxpayer is picking up the bill - for which I am very grateful.

If what you state is correct ,when the government reclaim the money from the frozen assets ,will we get our interest ,like those on a fixed term rate.

I too think you are mixing up a few things with facts - - - but it's really a totally academic debate, since the FSCS have taken it upon themselves (with the help of HM Government) to re-imburse all UK retail Icesavers, whether they had 1p or £1m or whatever in Icesave. The position on interest has been clarified by the FSCS website and enail communication.

Re your sig: to be happy you need to make someone happy.

Do you really believe that? If so, please accept what is happening, then we'll all be happy, and you'll be happy too.

    Job done.
