Watch out scammers about
http://www.moneywise.co.uk/news-views/2008/10/13/icesave-customers-still-dark-over-money
please don't shoot me down in flames if this has already been posted, I haven't had time to look
I'm not convinced by the statement 'The FSCS is not planning on publishing information contained in these emails on its website amid concerns that scammers could plagiarise it.' As soon as people start to get the e-mails their contents will quickly become public knowledge anyway. Surely it would be better to publish the contents so that anyone who sees anything different will know for certain that it's a scam.0 -
My surname is T so will be among the last if they do it alphabetical-but at least it is all positive.
My surname is S so guess I'm last in line almost LOL, hopefully there are lots of T,U,V,W,X,Y & Z's out there.
Mind you they might decide to do it in reverse order, in which case I hope there aren't too many T,U,V,W,X,Y & Z's out there.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
regarding the ISA's i went into my local natwest today to see if they would except my ISA as coming from a transfer in order to get their deal. tbh now im none the wiser. the cashier went and asked the manager (i presume) but seemed to think that when the ISA account was unfrozen i just needed to fill in a transfer form as u normally do. make sure you dont close the account etc. i dont think they realised that the money is going to be sent directly to my current account. and i cant leave it in icesave and do the normal transfer. so i guess ill just go back in when i get my money and IF the deal is still running see what they say and if its a no go somewhere else.
anyone else asked natwest about this?
no email yet btw0 -

I have also applied for, and opened, a Natwest ISA and have been told that when the transfer is effected, if the bonus rate (which I assume is the deal you'retalking about) is no longer being offered we wouldn't get it. I already filled out the transfer form and got a letter in the post saying the transfer failed due to Icesave being insolvent.

I am assuming now that the FSCS will have arrangements in place to retain the tax free status of the balance but Natwest's position is that you only qualify for the bonus if you transfer from an existing ISA.0 -

As no announcements have been made yet regarding the procedure for Icesave ISAs, we can't say what will or won't happen. Maybe the FSCS will just treat ISAs like a standard ISA transfer. We don't know.0 -

yes the FSCS have said it will remain tax free. thats the thing with natwest will they except the money as it is a transfer from icesave its just coming through a middle man so to speak. because i have over 20K in my ISA so it cant be classed as new ISA because you can only put 3600K into it in one year0 -
The FSCS procedure for retaining the ISA status is not yet known but the simplest way to get the Natwest bonus is to open an ISA account with another bank using your Icesave money then transfer to Natwest.0

yeah but that will take a while to open and i doubt they will still be doing the deal in month or 20 -
Again, we don't know what's going to happen, so IMO there's no much point in speculating about it. Someone's (hopefully) going to give us the full SPs in a day-or-two.....0
