Well said Lesley!
I think these 'in jokes' make posters feel big and clever!
Well I sure wish I was sat on here 24/7 to become part of the clique!

Easiest option is to open a Visa Electron account with the Post Office. Open straight away and access money the next day. This is far quicker than Halifax which took 2 weeks to get the paperwork sorted !
Check in online, no baggage only hand luggage 10kg's and also no insurance and travel on EU passport.
This way you pay only the original charges. In the past 6 weeks we have paid £20 return to Rome for 2, £0.04 return to Porto for 2 and £10.02 return to Venice for 2.
If we had not checked in online they would have added £4 each, each way.
If we were checking in luggage we would have had to pay an additional at least £4 each way (it is more but I am too lazy to look it up).
If you travel on another passport you cannot check in online.
Dont bother with Express boarding - its a joke all it does is allow you to pay for the priviledge of getting on the bus first. Once the bus stops the crowds run ahead and board before you anyway. And afterall who is keen to board a Ryanair flight early ?
Bottom line - you pay for what you get . Long live Ryanair providing the tickets remain cheaper than the parking lot we will use them.0 -

After booking flights for 3 people we have just been charged £24 on top of the flight prices, so watch for these charges, the price may not be as cheap as it seems.edinburgh_lesley wrote: »sorry I thought this site was to save people money and give sdvice to those who ask.!

Hello and welcome to MSE.
Before posting on these forums, it is a good idea to use the search facility at the top of the page to check if the issue has been raised before.
Then it would not be necessary to go over the same old moans time and time again.
Alternatively, there is a very good forum for 'Warnings and Rip-offs' which may be a better place to lodge the complaint.0 -
Re the Electron point, I have found when booking with Ryan Air in the past that they were having problems with booking on the electron but as soon as i put debit card details in it went through straight away...
Still, when you're getting flights for a penny, can you really justify moaning that much for an extra £4?0 -
Thanks, I didn't realize it was £4 per person per leg I thought it was £4 all in, the cheap flight I was thinking of booking is getting less cheap by the secondNothing to see here, move along.0

Sadly it is true that probably the most common thread on this board is one complaining about Ryanair charges. But the answers never vary.;)
Get an Electron card and pay for all Ryanair flights with it. I have an Abbey one and it has saved us a fortune. It is worth £16 every time you book return flights for two. It's a no-brainer - just get one!!:o
Travel using cabin baggage only. Your bag must weigh no more than 10kg and fit into their gauge at the airport, in theory at least. Some people claim they cannot go on holiday with such a small amount of luggage. Well, try it! We can do up to 10 days in Spain on 10kg, a long weekend is a doddle. Just leave all that superfluous junk at home!
Check in online. You can only do this with cabin baggage, but it means that your bag is less likely to be weighed or measured.
Avoid paying for priority boarding, it is a waste of money. So is their insurance, get your own, preferably on an annual policy.
Follow these rules and you will get the best prices. We have had genuine 1p flights (total of 4p to Dublin and back for 2) and £1/1euro flights to and from Spain. Fail to play Ryanair's game and you pay more, and consequently you subsidise the savvy old gits like me on MSE who love Ryanair.:D0 -
Delighted at his £8 bargain holiday, he was then gobsmacked to receive a flight confirmation email telling him he owed £40.
So Ryanair doesn't tell you the price you are paying before you press "book"? Or is it that some people are too stupid to read0 -
