Please help-Talktalk broadband!

Options
after 2 months without any service (joined May), I called Talktalk in July who said they'd look into the problem. I then got a call saying it was fixed, and yes,it was all ok. I now get a bill,3 months later, for an engineer visit I knew nothing about. After 10 frustrating minutes on a call to a callcentre, much of it spent on hold, they are saying I'm being charged because the fault was found to be with me in some way (my line?) and wasn't their fault. As a phone line,it always worked ok. My dilemma now is - the direct debit is due in 3 days time,£100 on top of my usual bill,I simply can't afford. Should I cancel the DD and risk possible affecting my credit rating? Can they legally charge for a service I was told nothing about? Any advice very gratefully receive, thank you, Ange

  • Hi Ange,
I'm sorry no one has replied to your thread yet. I was trying to think what I would do in your situation. I guess
    1. I would ask them to identify the fault they found.
    2. I'd also ask them to highlight the small print where you signed to say that you would pay for any repairs.
    3. Finally I would advise them that you would struggle to pay the bill and would like to dispute it, and pay once the dispute has been resolved if you are found to be liable for it.

Anyone else got any advice for Newbie Ange?
