IMHO for £60 worth, the variation in exchange rate will make such a small difference as to not warrant spending a lot of time hunting around for the absolute best rate.

Freaky!!!! posted at exactly the same time too, great minds and all that.

Well I've got a local Post Office which I think does currency, but I need to go into town anyway and the main PO and M&S are pretty close to each other. Should I expect to pay commission or is there anything else I need to know?

No commision, well when I say no commision it his hidden in the price you pay.

Just pop in hand over your cash and eh voila euros, they dont do cents etc so you may need to round your £60 up or down.

    all the best

  • Got a measly 70 euros for £60.25 at the PO in the end.

  • I would advise anyone to steer well clear of Post Office counters,
Their counter rates now bear no relation to their internet quoted rates unless you go for their 'special rate' for transactions over £500. (which is probably more than most people require for a short break)
I have no idea when this new offer/policy came in but it's fairly recent.

Actually the 'special rate' is highly misleading as it only brings you up to similar high street rates (eg M&S)

As mentioned elsewhere on the forum, I got burnt and was charge on a £400 exchange to Euros the outrageous sum of £16 'commission' over their internet rates and M&S counter rates- more fool me for assuming that their internet rates would closely mirror their counter rates (as they did until recently)
Even with Thomas Cook I would have been £12 better off.

My advice- If you are exchanging money, stay well away from the Post Office!
