British Gas Essential Tarriff dd discount

Having got my bills online today I rang BG to find out where the DD discount was. Apparently it is now included in the tariff itself and not shown separately if you are on the Essentials tariff bill. But if you are on ordinary tarriff it still shows on your bill as a dd discount.

Not so long ago there was a winter rebate system whereby you got around £70 back per year and the dd discount. Now its become the Essentials and is combined (probably less back to the customer too I suspect)

Because we get the Essential I havent considered changing supplier but now Im wondering if it would benefit us to change, and whether there are other supliers who have a discounted rate for those on a benefit?

Can anyone help with ideas on this?

Unfortunately, because of scum like me in insulated homes who spent less over winter than they received in rebate, they changed to a pro rata lower tariff system instead of a lump sum.
