Track Monday's carnage on this FTSE100 chart

At the end of the day, IceSave was probably a better short/medium term bet.

  • i thought last week was the low - how wrong was i!

  • It is carnage isn't it? My brokers statement arrived yesterday... I'm tyring to get my head around the fact that my portfolio is worth (considerably) less now than it was 7 years ago!

Oh well. Always had a high risk appetite so you can't moan when you get bitten - only invested money I could afford to lose etc. etc.

I think we'll be seeing this trampoline act for some time to come. The markets are just so jittery, they are over-reacting to any little bit of news, which can send prices plummeting one day, and bouncing back up the next.

Not a good time to be short-term investing unless you have nerves of steel and your nose glued to a PC monitor. I've currently bailed out of the stock market; I can do without the indigestion.

I'm so glad I resisted the temptation to jump in a couple of weeks ago. I was almost regretting it earlier this week ;)

You're in good company. I hope Warren Buffet is enjoying the ride.

Although he's probably not as worried as the ordinary investor.

Like watching a slow motion car crash, likely see a move back to the lows and possibly beyond when the US re-opens, futures market is currently at limit down.
Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

    Robert Peston's BBC bloc

He starts to question the wisdom of Anthony's Bolton's "buy" assessment of shares, but questioning whether company earnings will stand up in the downturn.

Not a lot of stamp duty coming from the housing market, though. And not a lot of capital gains from many of these share sales.
