Ryanair to close base in Valencia - Flights cease 4th November

Budget airline Ryanair is to close its base at Valencia in Spain with the loss of 70 weekly flights, it has announced.
The move will affect 750,000 passengers a year and 750 jobs in the region will be lost, according to the airline.
It has been prompted by a disagreement with the local authorities over the allocation of marketing funds.
The Irish carrier has been flying from Valencia to 10 destinations around Europe - all flights on those routes will be cancelled from 4 November. Ryanair blamed the decision on "the refusal of the Comunitat Valenciana to engage in constructive discussions in relation to the promotion of the airport and its routes across Ryanair's network in Europe".

Well I am due to fly from Valencia with Ryanair on 2nd Jan. I can't phone them at the minute to find out anymore. Anyone spoke to them to see what they are doing with people already booked?A+L Loan £168 Hitachi Loan £0 Bank of dad £19,664

"*Ryanair will continue to operate a limited service to Valencia on a London (Stansted) based aircraft. Passengers who were due to travel on affected flights to/from London Stansted may be able to transfer to one of our London based services or can receive a full refund. Passengers due to travel on all other cancelled Valencia based services, will receive a full refund from Ryanair. "Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

They don't guarantee booked flights will actually take off, but do give you a refund when they cancel them.0

How annoying! I just called to find out. The Spanish sounding lady advised they don't have anymore information at this time and it is not down to them I will receive an email (this was delivered in a I don't give a toss way, not I am so sorry your flights about to be cancelled lets help way)
I then asked if I could change my booking then and got the reply "If you change your booking now you will have to pay" and she hung up! I accept I may have to pay extra but by the time the refunds are issued other routes will have pushed up in price. How rude to just hang up!A+L Loan £168 Hitachi Loan £0 Bank of dad £19,664

Are flying from STN? If so, is your flight still bookable?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

As this has just been announced you ought to give them time to digest it!
They have announced they will refund everyone, so why not get another booking straightaway, as there is bound to be pressure on that route, leading to price increases (just as there was just after the xl collapse on the routes they were operating)0 -
They won't transfer you to ALC-EMA.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
