Headline in today's Business Telegraph.
I'm confused about exactly what a Hedge Fund is. I have PEPs/ISAs in various equity income funds. Could some of these be hedge funds without my having realised? Is there anywhere I can find a list of all the hedge funds so that I can check whether any of my funds are included? Thanks.

Hedge Funds are directed at Wealthy and Sophisticated Investors, and engage in a far wider range of Investment activities than the type of Funds directed at us ordinary mortals.

They are usually highly "leveraged" which is one reason (along with poor risk management) why so many are in deep trouble at the moment.

You almost certainly don't have any hedge funds - you'd need to go out of your way to invest in them.

Thanks both of you for this reassurance. As a saver with money in Icesave, and watching daily as our equity ISAs drop further into the mire am beginning to feel beleagured on all fronts.
