Haggle with BT Broadband

Thought this might be useful to people considering switching broadband provider....
To migrate to another ISP, you need to get a MAC (migration authorisation code) from your current provider. When I called BT to get mine, they asked why I was leaving them and when I said "cost", they offered to reduce my monthly charge for broadband basic from £17.99 to £15.99 and throw in free caller display. I pointed out that I was now getting caller display for free anyway (you can do this as part of their free "privacy" package or something like that) and that I would be getting my broadband at £11.99 a month from my new provider (madasafish.com) so I'm moving anyway. But if you're not inclined to move all the time, it's worth calling them to say that you are (0800 800 030) to save yourself £24 a year. I imagine you'd need to be out of contract before they'll haggle 'though.
Incidentally, madasafish don't have thier "first 4 months free" offer that Martin mentions in his article anymore. Instead they're offering £11.99 per month for 6 months and then £17.99. As migration is free, 'though, and you get a free modem (which I don't need, but would be worth a few £'s on Ebay) I reckon it's a good deal...
