PAC code with 3?
Options
hi,
does anyone have any experiences of getting a PAC code from the 3 network? if you get a PAC code and use it in the middle of a billing month, will the network refund you the remainder of the month, or will you just lose out on it altogether?
i've been a bit stupid... my billing month starts tomorrow and i haven't got my PAC code yet... if i execute my PAC code tomorrow, then hopefully within a week the number should be transferred... but then what would happen to the other 3 weeks that the network has already taken in advance? would that be forfeit?
i know with t-mobile, they will refund everything beyond the day that the number switches. anyone have any experience with 3? i guess if they don't refund i'll just do the switch at the end of the month instead, so at least i'll get to use the minutes i'm paying for...
thanks.

Ive had loads of experience with 3 and PAC codes. The whole company is a shambles. It was problem after problem. For two weeks flat and over a dozen calls, today (after I contacted OFCOM), I managed to get my PAC code. You need to cancel your contract thirty days before it expires or if want to you can request a PAC code a week before your contract is due to expire. That way your contract will end on time and you wont incur any extra charges. 3 Customer Services are horrendous. Its like speaking to a brick wall, because you dont get anywhere.0

I had similar problems, nightmare getting PAC code. Only valid for 30 days.
They will not accept the 30 days notice - its EITHER pac code OR 30 days notice. If you do not use it within 30 days - you have to give another 30 days notice.
Beware, it takes 7 days - 5 working days to port AND the number has to be in use for the port to work - in practice do not leave it to the last week as you could loose another month - cut your loss and move out loosing some minutes in the process.0 -

I got a PAC code out of 3 after my contract had finished. Hence the no. was no longer active - does this mean I won't get a successful port? I was really hoping to keep the number. Is it worth a try?

If you havent ported the number whilst its still alive, you cant keep that number. Once the contract ends that number is lost.0 -
I've taken the cautious approach of asking 3 to do one thing at a time, and hope they can cope with that.
I've given them 30 days' notice to terminate my monthly contract after the 12 month minimum contract period, and asked them to convert the sim to payg and keep my phone and number in use.
Once my phone has been converted to payg, I will ask 3 for a pac code to move my number to another network, requesting a replacement number to keep the 3 sim usable (although I have already unlocked my phone so I can use any network).0
