AOL Billing - Need Advice

Right then,
I just had a look at the AOL page to try and find out how long I had left on my account. I think the contract finished at the end of June. Thing is, I wasn't aware of the fact until about half an hour ago. Upon further inspection of my account, it seems they haven't taken any money from my bank account since June, either, although my internet has NEVER went off over the last few months. Now the site says I have to make a payment of just under £60 immediately. Am I within my rights to refuse to pay it as I always paid by direct debit(been with AOL for about 5 years now, and never had any problems) and the direct debit is still showing on my bank account(I checked my bank account online) which makes me think that this is their fault, because I haven't done anything to change the payment options.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you can help please reply ASAP, as I intend on phoning AOL to leave them/grovel/complain/abuse them tomorrow when I get up.
Scott
EDIT: Also, I had to phone them about not being able to get online in August/September and they never even mentioned that my bill hadn't been paid since June.

I would'nt advise you to grovel or abuse them, I'm having trouble with AOL billing at present, but mine is the complete reverse of your problem, - I can't seem to stop them from attempting to take money from me for a closed account, I've now gone to the "formal complaint" stage with them, maybe this is what you're have to do if you feel you've got a case.
I sincerely wish you luck with your case, because dealing with AOL customer services ain't easy..0 -
Asked them for a MAC earlier, and they say it'll be within 5 working days via email. And the bloke had a cheek t tell me they had tried to get money from me but they couldn't, even though the direct debit is still showing on my bank account. Online banking FTW!
