Play.com Now Offering Ticket Touting Services!!!!

Evening
I know it has been covered before with auction sites being used for touting concert and event tickets however Play.com's latest endeavor has me furious and I would like to do as much as I possibly can to put a stop to it!!!!!
http://www.play.com/Tickets/TicketsEvent/6-/RegionHome.html?cm_sp=Tickets-_-HPLaunch-_-Top
I am absolutely disgusted with this! As a regular concert goer I find it absurd how organizations such as play can get away with offering "exchange" services which is simply a mechanism to facilitate ticket touting
Don't get me wrong I'm all for face value exchanges as it is a secure way for both buyer and seller to purchase and trade tickets that were over bought etc there has intentionally been no attempt to prevent abuse of such a system though.
Taking a quick look though tickets can be found being offered for as much as £1500 for the Kings Of Leon and in excess of £500 for other events originally costing £50 with booking fees!!
I believe Hill and Knowlton (http://www.hillandknowlton.com/) handle Play's PR side of things. A direct email address just for play PR is available under the new section of the web site if "anyone" fancies getting in touch with them regarding this matter.
I know it is a long shot but something must be done to stop companies such as play offering these facilities unless restricted to a tickets face value!!!

thats so bad.
I just managed to get Metallica tickets through a pre-sale on See Tickets. Lets see how many Metallica tickets go on there in the morning after they go on sale to general public.
I'm just pleased we got them tonight. Know for a fact if i'd had to wait until general sale tomorrow i wouldnt have been able to get any.
I now have a very happy boyfriend and 2 tickets at face value!!!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
I noticed this too, I bought some Apocalyptica tickets from the venue at £15 a ticket however Play are advertising them at over £100 per ticket!
I won't ever buy a ticket from Play, especially knowing that I can buy tickets direct from the venue for much cheaper.0 -

I just got metallica tickets today too on seetickets. I want to go to the 2nd O2 concert aswell but couldn't get lower tier seats on the presale, so have risked waiting for tomorrows general sale
As for play.com - I too was gutted to see that they had started this. There really needs to be something done about re-selling tickets. I know there are genuine people who can't go, but I've seen tickets that I believe to be genuine sold at face value BIN on ebay. And I would do the same. It's so unfair to the real fans to mark up the price so much. They are already really expensive at £51 each ...I remember the days when I paid £16.50 to see Boyzone...:o0 -
Manchester MEN have sold out of standing tickets already, before they even go on sale to the general public.....
tickets appearing on play.com and ebay in 3...2...1...
oh look at that... tickets for manchester MEN £100 each on play.com.....
EDIT: its a listing for 4 tickets, SEATING aswell, which havent sold out yet! £400 total.
Can we say touting??the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
I had a pre order with play for a book which i have now cancelled. I'm a keen concert go'er and this disgusts me. I have told Play why I'm cancelling my order, and that they can cancel my account.
Im not a huge spender with them, maybe £150 a year in books etc (Im a student), but I refuse to give them a penny now.0 -
i must b the only 1 that cant see a problem...0

you mean you cant see a problem with genuine fans not being able to get tickets to see their favourite bands because they are all bought up by touts who then sell them on at 2 or 3 times the face value?? and whats worse is that Play.com, a respected and well known website are condoning and facilitating this illegal activity?
are you a tout???the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Extortion.
I won't be one of those complaining, but I hope those of you that do get a decent result. ~Try a petition on the Downing Street website perhaps? I'd sign that.No chocolate, cosmetics or clothes to be bought before xmas day 14! ~ NPower eBay target £541.670 -
every venue is now sold out of standing tickets. a lot of genuine fans got them (a lot of my friends), but i guess a lot of touts also, otherwise why stick the ticket up for sale straight away??
shame on some of our friends who couldnt get pre-sale tickets who now cant get any at allthe only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -

Who are they selling them to if not genuine fans?
I'm not sure it's illegal, immoral of course but that's a different story.Bought, not Brought0
