Well just a little update for info how it works for other first timers. We went to the showrooms and have decided on the Nissan Qashqai :D The man there was extremely helpful and did all the forms in no time.We had a bit of a saga today as we have to get a form stamped at the job centre..

Now our JC has been in the same place for 40+ years..we go there to find its moved and we weren't sure where to so after wandering around for an hour we finally found it only to find out we need to make an appointment :rotfl:

DS2's next op is scheduled for the 1st wk in Jan so fingers crossed we can get it sorted by then.
We took DS3 to see it *and check if it's tough enough to stand up to him* and he loved it..the salesman was very good with him even while he sat there trying to lick the upholstery and twiddle the poor mans hair :o:o
Don't think he'll forget us in a hurry :rotfl: :D Really impressed so far!

snap I am due to change in march,,went to nissan garage saw Qashqai fell in love with it,,saleman has agreed tht if we agree to get it he will give us it the advance payment of £499 last quarter it was £1500,,so we r happy and looking foward to getting it in march

easy, does that mean if the car is damaged I wont have to pay when I hand it back? Some scrote keyed it less than a month after I got it, I can't afford to have two panels resprayed but I'm planning on saving up for when I hand it back. If I didn't have to pay for it that'd be great. Will it affect me in future?
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

To the posters who have had cars before --can I ask you, what happens if your DLA is reduced before the 3 years is up ? can you carry on paying monthly or would you be able to buy the car outright ? or would it have to go back ?

if tht was me id phone the insurance company,,and get them to repair it for u ,the excess is only £75 ,,but if u do tht u will not get the good condition bonus at end of contract as u have made an insurance claim,,if u weigh it up paying £75 excess and losing £200 when u hand it back is still cheaper thtn paying to get it sprayed ur self u will have to pay for damage like tht when u hand it back tht is not wear and ttear

i wasnt aware that there was another option for those of us in receipt of the lower rate mobility! I had a look at their website, and it doesnt really give any details, other than asking at local showroom.

Does anyone have any info/personal experience of this please?

I only know about this from a friend who used this scheme. She negotiated a good deal with her local dealer, and then asked for the manufacturers blue badge discount - they didn't know what she was talking about but she was able to give them the details and she got the additional discount (this was a couple of years ago)

I'd suggest making a call on the telephone number given above and asking them to send you any literature about the deal.

It depends how bad the scratch is, but it shouldn't cost anywhere near £275, it probably won't need to be resprayed. If the scratch isn't that bad I would expect it could be sorted for less than £100.

When the car goes in for it's next service they will say it needs to be fixed and Motability will expect it to be done fairly soon, they won't let it be repaired just before the lease ends, so if thinking about saving up, aim for the next service and not the end of the lease.
I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?

Ok thanks. It's a bad scratch, it goes along two panels. I used some all colours t cut and it got a lot better, I might try some coloured t cut and see how it is after that. I went to halfords about getting it done and they said that it was too long, it'd cost me over a thousand at their rates. It's already had a service and they didn't say anything about it.

Ames, it depends on how great the damage is, and how much the salesman likes you when you hand over the car.

I'd guess that with key damage you would lose your good condition bonus, esp if it's a while until your car is changed again, so additional rust can set in. In your shoes I'd ring the insurance co, and get the problem fixed. Pay your £75 excess with good grace, and put it down as one of life's tribulations.

After all I think we get a pretty good deal on motability, the odd extra insurance expense is t be expected.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)
