I couldn't find any mention of an admin fee, it must be well hidden. Still, once bitten twice shy

I think they take quite a chunk of the points bid out of the 'pot' - if it was on a proper pool system then the worst you should be able to do is get the amount you put in, and that would be if everyone backed the same result.

Someone with a better mathematical brain than me may be able to work it out, I know on the Strictly Come Dancing final jackpot (the first to go) that the betting split was roughly:
    45% Darren
    15% Colin
    40% Zoe
and my winning return was 112 points from a 50 point stake on Zoe.

My uneducated guess at the expected return if there was no admin fee would be 125 points...which would indicate they take a 10% cut out of the pot.

But then, today has been one big surprise, hasn't it? Kazzea, falling asleep!!?? A dram too many???

Unfortunately no ......... I was stone cold sober (although it wouldn't have been whisky anyway) :p

And I'm very impressed at Kazzea sleeping last night! We had fireworks outside from just before midnight until quarter past one. Lots of yawns from me today.

I thinks that why I fell asleep actually - I was curled up with the dogs (they hate fireworks) with the telly on for background noise - the next thing I know its about 3am - and I wasn't going to get up and switch the computer on then when it was oh soooooo easy to just go back to sleep :D

I don't understand it. The minimum I expected back would be the amount I staked. By winning less than the amount staked, there would appear to have been a charge incurred.

Maybe someone knows something? It's the first time that I've ever entered it and it maybe the last

I feel a heavy complaint to Darraugh coming on!!!

How the hell can you win back less than you've staked??? That just doesn't make sense and in my opinion is surely in some way illegal?!?!?!?? If that happened in a bookies then surely there would be a huge uproar!!

I staked 100 points on no snow in England and got 91 back, and 50 points on no snow in Ireland and got 44 points back!!

So Twice bitten and VERY p****d off!!!!! :(

Surely we can all bunch together a huge complaint e-mail to Pigsback and get something done about this??

#The minister at my local church some years ago explained that betting was a "mugs game"- and that was even before Pigsback was invented!

I still haven't got back anything for my Christmas Number 1 bet. The only I can think of is that I didn't win but I'm sure there was no choice in the pool to pick the x-factor winner so that's why I went for other.

Can anyone clear up the confusion?

    Thanks

I also put my points on "Other" as it was obvious that the x-factor winner would go to No 1 (or at least in my opinion) and I haven't got any winnings yet. I am waiting until after tomorrow before chasing it up...

Since they actually encourage you to print the crossword out to complete offline I don't think you need worry about whether they think you've copied the answers in and/or completed the crossword in too quick a time! For what it's worth I usually take just under 2 mins to write the answers in from droopsnout's solutions and have won already, so no need to wait a few mins after finishing! :)

I totally agree with you. I too am down on points. I logged onto Pigsback yesterday to find that I'd had points added on to my account, when I checked I noticed that the 50 points I'd staked on the no snow on christmas day came back as 45 points!!! I thought I'd get at least my 50 points back!
Pigsback are a real joke at the moment. The advent calendar was only really giving out points for about a week in total. It will be interesting to see how many points we get tomorrow on the click throughs.
