  • I hardly think expecting a company to repair a 2 day old product in less than 2.5 months is unreasonable, I would not of expected Comet or anyone to be as useless as they have proved to be. Yes I know Comet have a bad rep and I would usually of told them where to go long before, apart from the fact I was getting £250 discount on the machine, and if I simply got a refund I would of had to spent £250 more buying it elewhere.

I would say it is more accurate to say Comet brought this upon me.

If you had sued them they would have had to pay for the replacement of the faulty product, the fact that you had had a discount wouldnt have mattered, unfortunately Comet, as you have found out, really are that bad and feel that no laws apply to them, to the point that when I dealt with a customer services girl she argued till she was blue in the face a legal fact that I had pointed out did not exist - she was an idiot - but the fact that they wont even give the people who are meant to help you the full legal facts preferring to let them believe Comets version of the law shows just how shoddy they are!! i can honestly say they are the worst company I have ever dealt with.
:D I understand ALOT more than I care to let on :D
  • Problem was without giving them ample oppourtunity to repair it the courts wouldn't of been much help, I was pretty stuck between a rock (courts) and a hard place (Comet).

I think I will do the same avoid Comet as much as possible.

I would have thought the court option would be best

as they would have to employ a solicitor - at some stupid rate per hour
& then there are your court fees.

then they have the chance of losing a couple of hundred (at least) quid on top of the price of the refund.

I would imagine they would settle out of court as its cheaper than gambling the whole lot.

seems a common theme - dont buy from comet

sell your story to one of those magazines, and name and shame them!

or if sooo many people are having problems, as this thread suggests, why not contact watchdog?

  • Sell my story to a magazine.....

    ....interesting....

How much would I get? Would be nice to get some proper compensation to cover my time.

Any suggestions on which magazines to approach? Are we talking womens gossip magazines or something else?

well its not something i've ever personally done, but almost all the big mags and rags pay for filler material, and seem to enjoy being able to name and shame people

the woman's weekly mags would probably offer the richest pickings IMHO
