Biggest price cut yet in WC1

This is the biggest price cut I've seen yet in WC1 - from £2 million to £1.5 million, 25% off in one go. Sounds like a motivated seller.

...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

  • It's been on the market since April, so I reckon they are getting fed up.

They must have owned it since before 2000, because the only 3 places listed as sold on that road since then are leasehold flats.

    Nice house.

The brochure says it needs refurbishment... so perhaps the owner is asset rich but cash poor?

The brochure also says it's in Islington - I've just checked WC1 on Wikipedia, "although a small part towards the east is within the London Borough of Islington." Perhaps that sounds dumb but is it near Bloomsbury?

Checking WC1 on Rightmove, hopefully the reduction will help put some further downward pressure on sellers who have apartments listed near that price.

It's in Prideux Place, which is just east of King's Cross Road. Camden's eastern limit in that section is KC Road, so it's just in Islingto, by maybe 100 - 150 yards or so.

It's east of Bloomsbury - if you walked west from Prideux Place, you would fetch up in Bloomsbury, and if you walked south-west you'd end up in Holborn.North west would land you need King's Cross / St Pancras, east is Roseberry Avenue, Saddler's Wells, and Finsbury and north-east is Islington proper.

It says it needs refurbishing, so I reckon that must include insulating (-:

Beautiful isnt it. But very dark in those rooms - nothing a bit of magnolia paint couldnt cure. Id love it :) It may well be its been in the family for a very long time. The furnishings arent lavish are they? Cheap chests of drawers in bedroom and rugs plus throws over the sofas. Poor devils probably as said, asset rich income poor.

It amused me to find my OH's great grandparents owned a house in Horseferry Road, Westminster in the mid 1800s - hmm, shame they sold that one.

that's interesting - normally something with such a price drop would never have hit the market with the new price. an agent would have passed it on to one of their 'friends' for a quick deal and some sort of 'compensation' for giving them the exclusivity. this happens more for investors rather than family homes though.

it probably shows that the market is very slow at that level of property and the demand for them isn't there.
