What with the 7 bedrooms, gym, swimming pool, spa, guest flat (2 beds) staff flat (another 2 beds) I wouldn't want to pay the utility bills!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

And the maintenance of a place like that would be horrendous. I shant put an offer in then.0

As I've long argued, prices always fall everywhere, even WC1 and Edinburgh.
In this enviroment you can bag a bargain anywhere.0 -
However bargain-acious it is, £15 million is just a tad over our budget (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

You could probably live there without them noticing ND - just put a pinny on now and then when they were in residence.0

It amused me to find my OH's great grandparents owned a house in Horseferry Road, Westminster in the mid 1800s - hmm, shame they sold that one.
My uncle had a 2 bed flat overlooking St Martin's Lane that he used to rent for about £25/week from the Peabody(?) Trust up until his death about 8 years ago.
He got it because he'd been in a camp in Germany in WWII. The ironic thing is that he ended up in the camp because he was a concientious objector.*
*He was a communist and thought that the war was an attempt by the bourgoisie to distract the proletariat from revolution by stoking up nationalism and thus preventing them from joining with their brothers across the seas. He believed that until the day he died.0 -
I think they may be struggling a bit lynz - check out the furniture too.0

Interesting uncle General
Peabody Trust is still going now - some of their buildings are really very attractive.
Reminds me also of a boyfriend I once had who said he lived in Chelsea - when I went home with him, he was indeed in Chelsea, in a council block just behind Kings Road.Wonder how much they go for now.
