They will be deperately after these for xmas presents. I can ship these on the 23rd for courier delivery on Sat the 24th and im sure plenty of others can. Watch this space, but imo prices will rise the week before Xmas unless supply increases dramatically.

And after Xmas there will be people with money to spend to get one at all costs before NYE...

And then lots of people buying HD Plasmas and LCDs in the New Year sales and will want a media centre extender or an HD games console...

imo prices will start to tail off slowly from mid Jan.

We'll see. Only you can beat the benchmark of £710 for a premium (not the fake bids at £1000) during the first week. The hype is kinda of died down and some shops have them trickling in.

I dont see where it says that. Tell them you are returning whole thing, get the return details and then just send the games via a method with proof of postage and signed for delivery.

Or take them to a Game shop. Someone at Bluewater was doing the same thing whilst I was there on Saturday. Got a bit of resistance but got his refund.

I don't understand why there are such huge differences in price.

This core is selling for the best part of £500 while this one went for half the price just a few minutes later.

I may have a few to sell depending, and I've had local cash offers of £330 which I'd be tempted to take with both hands. If I thought I had a good chance of making a few quid more for them I'd hold them till nearer Christmas but I'm wary of demand/willingness falling. That and I'd need the money for Christmas.

Its very simple. Seller 1 is covered by Paypal buyer protection so all money up to £500 is covered. Hence people are willing to spend much more.

Seller 2 isnt, so you are posting several hundred pounds with only very limited eBay cover (£100) that is very hard to claim from and takes months to actually pay out in the event of a problem...

The amount of people getting scammed must be massive...

Despite having the paypal buyer protection and confirmed addresses etc, there's nothing to stop a buyer doing a card chargeback in a month's time :(

Yes there is. Paypal seller protection. Refuse to ship to anything other than a Paypal confimed delivery address and use an online trackable signed for method and you should be covered.

so we'll see if prices will be at that price in the final week till Xmas.

congrats - you've got a sustainable business and you will be financially free in no time lol

Yes, we should be covered but in reality it's much less clear cut. Paypal makes a decision based of the shipping evidence you can provide. Even if you provide them with everything they are asking for (including proof of delivery, copy of signature, etc) within their required timeframe, nine times out of ten they will tell you that the information is not sufficient or come up with "we have investigated the situation and we have decided to award you with <a mere fraction of the amount, e.g £100 for £400 item>). They always favour the buyer and will never take a large loss.

Paypal seller protection is a total joke. You'd have to take them to court to get your money back.
  • I've got a few for e-bay. Never sold before. What's the best way to go about it to (a) get the best price and (b) avoid scammers/getting stung?

I was thinking of taking a picture with my digital camera showing my username, the xbox and todays paper, getting it weighed and finding out the postage costs including £500 insurance before and putting it on a 24 hr auction, nicely presented with my mobile number.

    This sound okay? Any advice?
