hi, can someone advice who has been flying abroad lately explain to me the below text,
everything seems more complicated with size, weight, what you can bring and what you cant :-)
does it mean i could pack all liquids in hold baggage in clear bags, and any size liquids, without having to show them or open baggage.
but if bringing on the plane it has to be in clear bags liquid's100ml size.
also has anyone brought a inhaler? can that be put in hold baggage or has that to be shown to security and do you need a doctors letter for that?
thanks again for advice
Where possible, put all liquid items in your hold baggage. This includes water and other drinks, creams, sprays, pastes and gels. Liquids, gels and aerosols are only allowed in individual containers of 100ml. All containers must fit comfortably in one, transparent, re-sealable bag no larger than 20cm x 20cm (eg a freezer bag).
If you need to, you can take small quantities of liquids through security. But only if they are carried in a single, clear, re-sealable plastic bag and each item is placed in a separate container no greater than 100ml. A freezer bag – approximately 20cm x 20cm or smaller - is about the right size.
Liquids of any size can still be checked into the hold, so it’s best to put these in your main suitcase.
Can I take my make-up and hairspray on board with me through security?
Again, only in containers of 100ml and inside the plastic bag - provided it will fit amongst other liquid items you wish to bring. If in doubt, it is by far better to put your make-up and any sprays into your hold baggage
Inhalers are allowed through, along with any other medicines in tablet or powder form.
Essential medicines that you will need during your trip must be checked through security. Again, they have to be in your clear, plastic, re-sealable bag and in containers of less than 100ml.
For essential medicines of more than 100ml, you will require supporting documentation from a relevant qualified medical professional and prior approval from the airline. This applies to everything from cough medicine through to insulin.
You can also be asked to verify medicines at security, which may involve tasting, or testing on the skin.
Remember, spare containers can always be packed in your hold baggage and you should always make sure you have enough medicine for the whole holiday

Hi
Those instructions do not make any sence. I have travelled a couple of times this year and on each trip bottles of spirits ect I have wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in my suitcase to go in the hold along with any other large containers of liquid {they have NOT had to go in clear bags inside the suitcase} I have a heart condition and take a spray onboard the aircraft along with a spare in the resealable clear freezer bag through security and have never been challanged. if you use an inhailer the same rules apply. If you need more than 1 or 2 items that are over 100ml you would be advised to get a letter from your doctor to clarify that you do need them for your journey. Any other liquid{water ect} taken through security must be sealed and fit into you 1 freezer bag but {even though you pay through the roof} goods bought in the departure lounge {no matter what size can be taken on board the aircraft.
Hope this answers your question and puts your mind at ease0 -
Sorry should have stated any water or other liquids in the freezer bag must NOT exceed 100ml0

Put simply: Any liquids gels etc taken in you hand luggage must be 100ml or less is capacity (half empty 200ml bottle is classed as 200ml) and they must all fit in one ziplock bag (plastic bag with plastic type zip) which is no bigger than 20cm by 20cm or 8" by 8". When you go through they may or may not ask you to put this bag in a seperate tray to be scanned or at least removed from your main pice of hand luggage.
What you put in your checked baggage is up to you as is how you pack it.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Biggest bottle you can take with you through the airport security checks is 100ml. It, and all your other bottles in hand luggage, must fit into a single reseable bag.
What liquids you put into checked luggage is up to you with the proviso they don't like explosive substances or corrosive liquids
As for medicines - if they are liquids and in a larger than > 100ml bottle then you must get written confirmation from your doctor0 -

Flew out from Glasgow airport last month to Turkey and went thru` all security checks before departure lounge. We went for a meal in the cafeteria and could have "Lifted" metal Knives/forks and other cutlery, no checks were made before we went on the plane9 Some Security ?) However Flying back from Dalyan airport, the security was a joke as ALL quantity of liquids were never questioned and allowed on the flight (we could have constructed a fluid activated device and "detonated over the UK but there was no checks on the liquids(the only thing that was questioned was the weight of our suitcases and despite leaving all toileties and 3 towels we were still overweight)
Take care, 100ml fluids max in your hand luggage leaving the UK
Hope this helps0 -

the whole system is flawed and dont think it actually deters terrorism. if anything makes life easier for them.
anyway i decided to try the clear bag system last week (as i never declare anything) and well they let you carry through anything, as many clear bags as u want. however i left a few items in my bag, and they pulled me to one side (as id left a bracelet on and beeped the thing) anyway he found the items, looked and put em all back. didnt say nuffin. scanned all my electricals though.
the people on the scanning machine were lax. at one point they wernt even looking at the screens.
so dont declare nuffin and u go through easy breezy. and dont get me started on the shoe machine....

Okay let me see if I’ve got this right
- You can only take liquids up to 100ml in your hand luggage sealed in a clear plastic bag.
- You can pack liquids bigger than 100ml in your hold luggage and you don’t have to worry about packing them in a clear bag.
Can I put all the bigger than 100ml liquids in my hold luggage?
Can I get the clear plastic bag you use at the airport?0
