Has Martin Mis-Advised Us Into Capping Our Fuel Rates?

To be fair it wasn't just Martin who was caught out by the Icelandic situation - many councils paid very good money for financial advice from a subsidiary of Capita only to be told to get all their spare wonga into Iceland. Plus, of course, there are self-appointed experts on here who have scarily large holdings (actually, not large any more) in bank shares and always regarded them as a solid bet. Hindsight, eh??Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Another group of idiots, wanting to blame someone else for their own stupidty. You got FREE advice. For free advice you have to accept the risks of it not being the best advice. At the time though, it was good advice.
Stop blaiming someone else for your incompetitence and look in the mirror for the person to blame. Idiots.0 -

And Cardew/Hugh Jeego labels me a troll :rotfl: This is the poster who wrote this in a thread about someone being given £200 too much by a bank cashier:It's only stealing if you stop to think about it
Put the so called £200 to a side. You probably have just withdrawn "1000" thinking it's £800 but the computers made a mistake
After all, going back to the bank now would only get the cashier in trouble and you don't want that do you?
Now don't come back on this thread else you'll get the do-gooders telling you stupid things to do.
NEXT! :rotfl:

is it not possible just to change suppliers again if it turns out the capping is too dear. Mine didn't have a tie in period that I saw.0

That's far too reasonable and rational. People want to moan.0 -
*** Devils Advocate Alert ***
To be fair we all know that the disclaimer at the bottom of the site exists.
However there is no such disclaimer on GMTV when martin is giving our his "advice" saying CAP NOW, NOW, NOW, NOW!
Also he may put the disclaimer but if he is offering his opinion and telling people what to do at a certain time (Martin was telling customer to CAP their tarrifs), then I would argue that in the eye's of the FSA Martin is giving Financial Advice (disclaimer or not).
It's a tricky situation martin has put himself in (albeit with the best of intentions at all times).
Thankfully neither the Icleand fiasco nor Energy Price Cap's have affected me as I chose to ignore said advice, but it does make on wonder hwo many people took Martins word as gospel.

How old are you?
You sound like you are still in the playground:rolleyes:
If you had bothered to read the thread (Idiotic in my opinion) I dont think any of the replies by any of the posters in this thread yet have capped their rates bar perhaps post#15
I certainly never and i opened the original post.
Well done:rotfl: Back to class now sonny, and try to keep up

I did cap, specifically due to Martin's advice. And yes, it does look like prices may come down, but it was my decision in the end.
To add to this, if prices don't come down and kept increasing my bet is you wouldn't be here saying how great Martin is because of his advice to cap.0 -
I tried to warn people against fixing.
I will see if I can find the posts.0
