Comments

i didnt hand it in, i forgot and they didnt tell me i needed to. I have since handed it in though, must of been about 6 weeks ago now. If ive been on this code and its emergency, do i get it back?0
-
Right - are you monthly or weekly paid?0
-
weekly, ide be abit gutted if i got £432 per month lol0
-
Well you could be a part time worker hehehe.
I work on the monthly payroll term for a large company, i look after about 600-900 peoples pay. When someone new starts i get there p45, parts 2 and 3 and you keep part 1. I then use the figures on the p45 to help work out the system. If they havent put the figures into their system you will be paying more tax.
As soon as these figures are entered the tax will be adjusted and you should see you paying less tax.
If i had my tax tables with me i could work out your tax but its quite long winded lol!0 -
the important question is, how do i sort it and will i get a rebate? nice lil xmas present0
-
i meant work out the tax lol0

I would check with the payroll dept at your work, are they approachable? What does your P45 say? I mean the figures? You might not see it as a REBATE but it might be a relief in tax - meaning you have a relief of tax, so thus paying less tax each week0
-
just as an added note - have you got a pension with this company and do they do something called a salary sacrifice??0
-
i dnt have a pension no and we usually speak to someone else in the office who will speak to payroll for us. I dont have my p45 as i give it to them to send off, i remember on it a tax code BR0

J3OEF, I would check with the tax office which deals with your main employment. If you've been working at an agency previously it could mean that the tax office has that employment down as a "sub-source" which they think is still live if they haven't received any P45 details from them. Agency work is sometimes set up as a sub source but coded 603LX rather than BR if you're working for more than one agency at a time or claiming unemployment benefit whilst doing temp work, don't ask me why
. Anyway if you can find all your p45s for this year have them on hand plus your dates of commencement/leaving when you ring your tax office. They should be able to check to make sure they've got you at the right employment reference and issue the correct code to your employer.
