    First check there is nothing wrong with the mains socket you are plugging into (plug in another working appliance to check) and also that the mains power lead is pushed firmly into the laptop power adapter.

    If these things are ok then I think the chances are either the power adapter is faulty or the socket in the laptop, where you plug in the adapter lead, is faulty.

    Can you find someone who is capable of checking the ouput from the power adapter to see that the voltage level is correct and stable?
