first time internet provider

Hi My mum and dad have just bought their first PC and I was wondering what would be the best way to connect them to the internet. Their land line is with BT and they are currently classed as low users, and get some discount. Is there still Pay as you go or is it just broadband now. I can't really see them spending hours on the internet or downloading. They are retired. Thank you

Yes dial up is still available and you do not need to register with a company. One I have used in the past is Freewire, but if you Google free dial up it may throw up others.
If your parents are on the Basic scheme which I think replaced the Low user scheme it is possible that Broadband cannot be used. Someone may come along later to confirm or deny this.

broadband can't be used with the low user scheme, but unmetered dialup should, i believe, if this is the case - maybe use one of martin's recommendations like Zaggle - 60 hours a month usage for £5.99pm isn't too bad .... thats probably equivalent to around 10 hours on pay as you go at 1ppm (which would be weekends only - weekdays at peak time would be about a quarter this)
  • I looked on Google for a free ISP and http://www.12free.co.uk came up, has anyone used them before?
