Thanks guys, and yes he's moved out. He's staying with a friend for a few days until he finds somewhere to rent. He's talking about finding a bedsit, so I guess he really means it about not wanting the kids, as there wont be room for a travel cot and an airbed in a bedsit I wouldn't have thought.
