Anyone flown with AirFrance?

Hello

This may sound a little naive but bear with me!

We are flying with Air France (booked through Expedia) from Heathrow T4 to New York JFK next week and I just wondered whether anyone had any experiences with Air France they'd like to pass on? Looking at their website, they say that they had in-flight entertainment etc but because they are a foreign firm I am a little concerned that it will all be in French or something:confused: (as I said, maybe I am a little naive?!). It's a long flight and I want to check that it will be as bearable as possible!

Many thanks

Flew with them to Miami and the two films were in English with the option of having French, Spanish or something else. They did the announcements in both French and English and then Spanish (I think) so your flight should be fine.

They are one of my favourite airlines, partly because you get unlimited good champagne, even in economy.

Their aircraft vary so I don't know what kind of IFE you will get, but when I have used them on flights to/from China there has been a choice of films or other TV programmes, and you just choose which language you would like to hear.

Do allow plenty of time for check-in and things at the airport. Their ground crew are friendly but incompetent, and if anything goes wrong you are better off if you have time to put things right. And be thankful that you do not have to change 'planes in Paris: CDG is one of the least convenient airports out, and Air France staff there are about as unhelpful as they possibly could be.

However, I have always found their cabin crew to be superb: helpful, friendly, intelligent.

    Unlimited champagne?! Seriously?! Wow!

Thanks for the reassurances, won't have to buy that many magazines then.

They are excellent. The movies as described will be multi lingual.

AF seems to be one of the few airlines left that actually seem to care - or at least pretend to.

If the flight is from T4, I expect the flight will probably be operated by Delta, rather than Air France. Do you have the flight number to hand?

As comments above, if you are flying direct, you will be flying Delta Airlines codeshare and if you have individual in-flight entertainment, it will be multilingual.

If you put your flight details into flightstats, it will tell you about your flight including the plane yo are scheduled to be on.

If you then have a search on seatguru, you can find out what in-flight entertainment there is.

As Airlines go, assuming you are an infrequent user of the airline, I guess your main concern is inflight entertainment, service and will they get you there and back if your flight goes t!ts up. ;)

On the inflight entertainment, that depends on what you are flying on (as above).

On the inflight service, the grub and booze is fine, but IMHO Air France staff (driven by policy) are far to quick these days to stick out a bunch of soft drinks at "drinks stations" and then go into hiding. :)

As for will they get you there and back if your flight goes t!ts up, well that's where Air France or rather Sky Team excel, because they have so many options at their disposal with flights on KLM, Delta, NWA, etc and IMHO it is a part of travel that too many people fail to give consideration to when choosing an airline.

That said, assuming you are flying direct, you will avoid the worst thing about Air France and that is Charles De Gaulle and those ignorant B******S at security...... If however you aren't flying direct, I'll happily tell you all you need to know to enable you to deal with those ignorant B******S at security ;)

worst airline i have ever flown with... I flew in 2004 from London to Paris and then Paris to Mauritius..... My company sent one person with Air France and now we have moved to Emirates.

Putting that to one side i have also booked this offer and i am flying with them again so they cannot be all that bad but saying that my flight was <£150.
  • You will be flying on Delta, an awful airline.
