TalkTalk Free Evening Calls expiring!

Hello, I joined Talktalk about a year ago on the offer of free weekend calls and free calls to the USA, Australia and Canada off peak.

However, this is coming to an end now and I was wondering if there are any other suppliers I could jump to for free evening and weekend calls, or even free all day uk calls if anyone is offering that?? I know Talktalk were offering it but I phoned up and was told I couldn't have it, despite my excessive whinging and whimpering to them. If anyone knows of any good deals out there, I'd really appreciate if you could let me know!

Thanks! :snow_grin
That, is an excellent question...

There's a choice of 2 according to Martin's latest home phones update - but JD appear to be in a state of flux at the moment (not answering e-mails according to reports on MSE).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • if you where on Talk 1 you wont get extended free calls .But you can get them with talk2 . I would phone TT again and ask .Tell them there competitors are offering free calls . If they say no then say bye bye Talk Talk

I told them last week I wanted to cancel because my deal ends this month. They put me through to cancellations who offered me the same package of free evening and weekend calls, with Australia & Canada included for another year. This is the same deal that I am currently on. As they seem to be a bit unreliable in sticking to their offers I told them I wanted it in writing which they said I would receive before the current deal expired. I was also given the name of the person I was speaking to in case I had any problems. If I do not receive confirmation in writing I will call them again, so its worth a try.

We had our extended by a tear too but when the bill came in we had been charged for evening calls. We have since e-mailed them to complain and have an e-mail back saying that they will honour the extension for a year from some date in December. I will now try and remember to save the e-mail incase they have a change of heart again. I did not know that you could get free calls to Australia though!!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since Talk 1 and Talk 2 were on CPS, I thought the only way to cancel it would be to sign up with another supplier - or with BT. Or get your phone line disconnected. Is that not right then?

you are probably correct ,but if you tell them you are looking elsewhere they do what they can to keep you
  • Our package (same as OP) was due to expire 14th Jan, but we got a letter this week telling us it will be extended for another year. No need to haggle!

If they are giving this deal out and you haven't had it, then ask for it.

Now all I need is to make friends with a random American and an Aussie and I can bleed 'em dry!

I called them today and they extended my plan for another year with a little bit of haggling.
