2 double bedroom semi-detached bungalow 325K -> 250K and HIGHLY MOTIVATED SELLERS

No, I think she'd prefer somewhere a bit more kicking and central. I have quite a young, groovy MIL.
And 250K for a 2 bed still sounds a lot to me. :eek:0 -
Interesting - we considered buying in Camp Road area. Is it dodgy? Always looked quite nice to me, in a slightly down-at-heel way.
Is Catherine Street better? Shops certainly wouldn't suggest it.
More local info always good - my MIL lives in St Albans now, and we're trying to persuade her to buy there and stay, when she retires soon. Where would you recommend?
NB Just seen your most recent post - who'd pay 300K for a flat on London Road! And there are I think 4 kebab shops and 2 pizza deliveries on London Road - I suppose it depends what you call 'that stretch'.
As far as I am aware Camp Rd is where the most of the council houses are ..
I have heard the cathedral quarter and AL1 4 are not bad !

Do I take it you were the buyer?0

Nope, the seller.0

Ha ha, it did didn't it.
The way to sell at the moment seems to be compromise, when our house went on the market at 92k we had an offer accepted at 106k on the house we're buying. Over the months the seller agreed to gradually drop his price (not as much as us unfortunately) to 96k.
We also originally planned to borrow enough to practically refurbish the house we will now only borrow enough to get the essential work done, the rest can be done over time...this is fine, we intend to live there for a long time.
It is the perfect house for us, I know people say there's another round the corner but how many of those have seven parrots and need a house with a bird room???0 -
Sorry - I went out.
Glad it's all worked out for you, Paley71.
That's how it should be, really - price drops all the way up the ladder, so that no-one loses out (except the people at the top, but they're best placed to do so).0 -
