You do realise you are doomed if you start that :D. Can you pay online as well? If so, I can see lots of little £2.58 transfers etc 'just to round the figures off' :rotfl:

    I see you've spotted my OCD tendencies:rotfl:

    Happy New Year.

My January payment has cleared and wait for it ... it's £39,534.90:j. I'm so pleased that we're under £40,000 now. In fact this is the smallest our mortgage has ever been. I know that sounds obvious, but when I bought our house all those years ago it was only £40,000, but as it was interest only it never went sub 40, then we remortgaged to do some improvements - actually a new roof, nearly £30,000 for a roof can you imagine it! However we really are making progress. Thanks for all the support and inspiration.

No, just pantiles, but all the supporting timbers needed improving / replacing, due to bad rot / woodworm, and it is a big roof. The most expensive quote was over £60,000:eek:. Even though we were'nt MSE we did shop around, and believe it or not we have recommended the contractor to other people, as they did a really good job. But still I felt a bit sick, 'cos it wasn't as if we gained an extension or extra space, but I can now sleep at night, without worrying that it will collapse. :D

I suppose that my biggest challenge was to get my DH to believe that the mortgage is debt and needs clearing asap, and he now does. Just received an unexpected cheque for £110.33, so I've paid it off the mortgage.:D

Just checked my mortgage balance and it's £38,813.81, I feel that at last we are starting to eat into it. Thanks to everyone for all their support.

Mortgage down to £36964.89. Still in work, but for how much longer I wonder! Oh well I'm just going to keep on doing what I do.

Son doing well at Dyslexia Action so we must keep finding the cash for that too.

Dear MFWs it's been a while since my last confession:o.

We have now managed to get the mortgage down to £35,716.85, that's just over 50% of the original mortgage.:j

So far this year I've managed to hold onto my job:j, so we've been keeping up the OPs and putting some into savings at a measily interest rate (I would put it all as OPs as you can borrow it back, but my DH worries that if we lost our jobs they wouldn't let us) and paying for DS tution at Dyslexia Action:D. So I think we've had a good first half of the year (touch wood).

I have to say, that the DA tution has been well worth the money. This time last year my DS who's 10 now, wouldn't pick up a book - now he's read the entire Percy Jackson series - not just one but six books:j. It's so strange, I always check on the kids before going to bed and I often find him reading, but I can't bring myself to be cross with him.:rotfl:On top of that his self confidence has also improved. He still struggles big time with spelling, writing and maths, but I'm sure that eventually we'll / he'll get there. Now just to find him a decent secondary school for him!

Good luck to everyone else with their challenges.:T
