Has anyone else been affected by this problem of connecting no probs but within 1 minute loosing the line time after time. :j
I'm just hoping it's fixed this time, BT was not exactly helpful to rectify this issue. :snow_laug

I have been with BT Broadband for several years. About half a dozen times during this period, my connection was very rocky for about a month at a time. Constant disconnects.......the last such period was during October.
I only ever ring BT customer support (or any help desk, for that matter, help desks are just bad for my blood pressure...) as a last resort. They always made me to check dozens of things, many of which didn't make any sense whatsover, and none of them ever helped! They never ever acknowledged that there could be a fault their end.
The service always came back to normal, without me changing any equipment or settings.....it's been ok for the last six weeks, x fingers!
During these bad service periods, I was often tempted to change broadband provider....however, having checked the reliability reports on the ADSLGUIDE, I always concluded BT are probably the lesser evil, so I never changed (though there are one or two who seem to be much more reliable, but also more expensive)
If your broadband connection was working fine before, and you haven't changed equipment/settings, there's probably nothing much that you can do, other than report the fault and hope your fault report will wing its way to the engineers who can do something about it at the BT end.
If your connection never worked properly, then it might well be worth spending a bit more time with the help desk to make sure your settings & equipment are ok. How are you connecting, btw - with a cable or thru wireless? If you have a wireless connection, there could be other wireless devices in hour house that interfere. In which case, switch those off and see whether this makes a difference.
Hope your problems will disappear soon!0 -

if you do a google on "BTOpenwoe" you'll get an idea as to why thousands of customers deserted them and why they had to rebrand as BTYahoo to save themselves from going down the tubesYou'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -

I have had a few problems with BT Internet including similar problems to yours, their CS is abysmal, they try to fob you off with all sorts of excuses in my experience. I should change ISP and I probably will when I get a minute to do some research.
Last weekend we had a problem with connection, we eventually (after about 6 hours) traced the problem to my mobile phone charger being plugged into the other half of the double socket that the main cordless phone base is plugged into. When we thought it was a BT problem their ever so (not) helpful operative said we might have to wait 4 to 5 days for them to send an engineer.:eek:0 -
This was posted on another thread, but it tells you if there are problems with the broadband service in your area.

You don't have to be with BT Broadband it's for anybody using a BT line for their broadband. It gives you the areas having problems and their area telephone code.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4 .............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

If you use a router, have you tried unplugging it (mains and phone line) for 5 minutes, then reconnecting it again? Sometimes this can sort out this kind of problem. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

They try to blame extension leads, or anything else, BUT one of the fault line numbers you phone explains how they are having problems with their BT Broadband service !!!!!!There are More Questions Than Answers!!!!!!

I'm with tiscali and had a similar problem, they ran check after check but never found anything wrong as it was an intermitent problem.
They eventually sent a BT engineer who coulnd't find anything when he arrived, as my connection was perfectly stable. luckily he said that he'd keep my call open, and said that he'd call me every day until it was resolved (which he did). He called one morning, when my connection was playing up, and he arrived on my doorstep within 10 mins.
He could see that there was a problem but hadn't got a clue what it was, but called one of their internal coaches who pointed him in the right direction. I believe he stated it was a H3-dis or something to that effect, whereby there was a tiny break in the line between the house and the local exchange which was causing machine to disconnect.
Now you've just got to try to explain this to one of the morons in the call centre
Good Luck!0
