How about Celebrity WifeSwap?0

well - i'm pretty sure the thoughts i have are probably the same as your own - but we'll give it a go!
I'd say there's no real harm in doing the ready steady cook type formula that you've already done. It's a little fun whilst spreading the word about yourself & the money values you hold.
Obviously being a '2nd person' in a series/show could take up a lot more of your time & may deviate from the path you'd like to keep (money, i guess), depending of course on the show itself & the flexibility you can have whilst on the show to maybe show some money hints within the arena of the show.
But of course, what this really is about is YOU, your life, your happiness & what you want from it - only you (should hopefully) know that... You'd need to evaluate the options open to you with whatever your life goals are & how this could help/hinder the goals. There's also no reason not to change your goals in life & for instance not be a MSE any more but go down the maths route or presenter route etc...
& on the charity route - yeah, personally i'd go for it as long as it was something i was comfortable doing & i didn't do 'too much' non-MSE stuff.
i hope i've not rambled too much... lol0 -
I would have thought you will have enough work over the next few years without doing anything else!
As mentioned, things like Ready Steady Cook, are fun and nice to do, but you're occupying a very in demand niche at the moment, if you do other things it may 'dilute' your current position leaving room for another Moneysavingexpert wannabe to take your place!
Of course though, if your ambitions lie beyond MoneySaving, then I say go for it! Just leave us with someone as good as you!0 -
I think your attitude to going onto tv is very laudable Martin. Given that you have a competetive nature, I would like to know what your attitude to chess is? I know that playing the game does not pay well (unless you are up to grandmaster level) due to society's view of the game/sport. However I think that chess has a lot to offer mankind. I tried to initiate the teaching of chess in prisons as it teaches so many things to offenders that they obviously are lacking in their personal lives. Such things as: values, tactics, planning, analysis, strategies, basic literacy and numeracy. Sadly the whole concept fell through due to the dinosaur nature of HM Prison Service and the English Chess Federation, this was dispite a very succesful pilot scheme in HMP Manchester, which I have well documented.
Should it have proved to be succesful there would have been a decrease in both prison population and demands for compensation from insurance companies. Chess is a very cheap game to play, as once one has the board and pieces (which can be made from cheap items, such as paper and pencil).
What do you think?
Regards and power to your elbow!0 -
Well, I'm not sure which shows you mean, but they've just started a new series of 'Have I got News for You', and with you heading the consumer revolution, I think you'd be a very good choice as a guest at the moment...!!LBM : August 2007my debts: less than this time last year....!DFW Nerd Club #706I'm Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0

I would defninitely go for it but be very selective.
I could see you doing Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire,
Countdown as a guest in dictionary corner or
maybe being interviewed on the Gadget show about your favourite gadget etc. Maybe one-offs that you could do but even though I think you would be fab on Strictly come dancing - it would take up a lot of your time and would be a (potentially) major commitment and perhaps would not go alongside your current reputation so well.
But like the idea of some news reports/items for Newsround or maybe popping up on Watchdog from time to time.
It would probably mean giving up a bit of time from MSE though or I couldn't see how you could fit it all in :rotfl: . I guess it depends on whether you are willing to branch out a little and whether you would be happy to let your team take the strain a little more sometimes. What does Lara think?
Anyway best of luck with whatever you decide.

"see my topol" "on top" Are these euphemisms?
Martin Lewis: He's not the messiah, he's a naughty boy.
The Gordon Ramsey thing will be really cool and useful. How about some cheap bedroom makeovers, eg for a £50 a room budget?0 -
I agree with the reality comments, don't go there! Things like "Millionaire" or celebrity countdown would be good. They might raise your profile a bit and they won't destroy you, just show you have a fun side.
I'd watch a MSE Have I got news for you..The Number One Reason for the Success of the Internet
